The contact owns a 2017 Ford Mustang. The contact stated while the vehicle was stationary, the headliner became loosened. There were no warning lights illuminated. The manufacturer was informed that the headliner was detaching in the vehicle. The manufacturer informed the contact that the vehicle needed to be taken to a dealer to be diagnosed and the manufacturer opened a case. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was determined that the door glass and headliner retainer needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 23,000.

While driving my recently purchased 2017 Ford Mustang Convertible from Florida to North Carolina, the passenger-side door repeatedly unlocked and partially opened while the vehicle was traveling at interstate speeds. This occurred approximately 12 times during the trip. The door appeared to latch normally when closed, but would unexpectedly unlock and pop open while the vehicle was in motion. This created a significant safety concern due to the risk of occupant injury, driver distraction, and potential loss of vehicle control. I am aware that Ford has issued recalls related to door latch failures on certain Mustang models; however, my vehicle's VIN is not included in the recall population. Based on my research, numerous owners of Ford Mustang Convertibles from model years around 2017 have reported experiencing similar door latch and door-opening issues. …
While driving 45mph, my passenger door suddenly opened, and I received a notification on my car's dashboard warning me that the door had opened. When it was safe to pull over, I was able to shut the door but this has been the second time this has occurred, the first being about 2 months earlier while I was driving on the free way going 65mph. This is very dangerous since if my door opened while I was driving, my belongings could fall out of my car while driving, my passenger would be put at risk, and my door could potentially hit another car next to me. Ultimately, my passenger door's lock failed and it is available for inspection upon request. The door failing to stay locked while driving put me and my passenger at risk. …
Our 2017 has had an ongoing problem through the years with the passenger door opening at speed. Sometimes going 70 mph on the interstate. Lately it has happened more and more. Yesterday, my wife called me at work, very upset saying that the passenger door popped open again on her way to work. I have read that Ford has had some issues with driver side doors opening, but have not seen a recall for the passenger side. This is very dangerous and scares my wife. Ford seems to be very slow with giving attention to safety issues. Last year, our rearview camera on the same car was supposed to have been repaired. They did part of the job but said they are waiting on a part. That was October of 2025. I have heard nothing back. I have contacted the dealership, who tells me they will get back with me, but they basically have not. Meanwhile, I still have a nonworking backup camera. …
This is a Mustang convertible. The doors would be open all of the sudden when the car is running especially on highway. It's not wide open but ajar. The wind would blow into the car, noisy and scary. Both doors have this issue, mainly on driver side. The passenger side also happened once on highway when my daughter was there. This typically happen in a long drive like couple of hours. The first time this happened is couple of years ago. This issue happened more and more often in the past year. I found online that this issue was reported and some of the cars were recalled. However, my car is not one of those that were recalled. I believe this is a big deal and should be taken care of seriously. Thank you.
My 2017 Ford Mustang Convertible front door unlatched to the secondary safety position while driving at highway speeds. This became a huge issue on October 13, 2026 while taking a long-distance trip. The passenger door unlatched at least 10 times. During this trip, my car exceded the 150,000 mile limit to Ford customer satisfication program 21N10. When I contacted both my local dealer and the Ford customer service team, both said their is nothing they can do to help me. I am quite frustrated that Ford rejected my safety concerns on this known issue and was unwilling to recognize the extunuating circumstances of when this happened.
I have experienced a concerning issue twice while driving. On both occasions, I was traveling at approximately 72 mph with all doors closed and locked when the vehicle indicated that the passenger door was ajar. Although the door did not fully open, it appears that the latch may not have remained securely engaged. My concern is that if I have a passenger in the vehicle and this occurs again, it could create a serious safety risk. I would like to know what may be causing this issue and what can be done to correct it. Could this be related to a defective door latch, sensor, or another component?
While on the freeway, my passenger door unlatches and opens. The warning indicator goes off that a door is open and it is free from the locking mechanism, requiring the door be opened and pulled closed while in motion. The door has done this repeatedly for over a year. Most recently, it opened and almost hit another vehicle on the road. This is incredibly dangerous and a panic inducing concern that occurs with no advanced notice. The door has been checked and verified as securely fastened before departing every trip and it still happens.
Door would open while driving, warning lamp would then appear "door ajar". Happens to both passenger and drivers side. Has happened 48 times, since June 2020. It happens at different speeds, anything from 70 mph, to pulling into a parking stall (2 mph). Dealer looked at it, they said they consulted Ford, and there is nothing they could do. (Today, (4/1/22), it happened 3 times in 1 day, passenger side twice, and drivers side once) I fear for my safety and the safety of my passengers.
