Dt*: the contact stated the vehicle's front wheel fractured and detached once and almost detached a second time. There were no warning signs that LED up to the problems with the wheels. The first occurrence was in 2005 and completely detached and the second time, in 2006, after viewing the wheel the contact observed cracks in the wheel. The wheel was replaced before it completely fractured. The contact expressed the reason for the cracks was the way the wheel was mounted to the front hub which causes stress cracks in the wheel itself.
I wias traveling on hwy. 27 outside of blakely ga on 09-17-15. My front drivers side tire tread belt separated. I lost control of the vehicle and narrowly avoided a severe accident. The tire was a pro-comp all terrain load range e 265/75/16.
Tread separation on left front tire, ruined wheel. After installing spare tire and driving 12 more miles. Tread separation on right front tire. Both times tires blew out, causing damage to vehicle.
I was traveling on the expressway with my 99 Ford f-350 pulling a 5th wheel trailer when the front driver's side tire blew out. As I wrestled the truck to the shoulder, the brakes completely failed. As far as I could tell, even the electronic brakes on the trailer weren't helping to stop me as I drifted to a stop on the shoulder. The tire tread when it shredded apparently blew out a vacuum hose and there May have been some other connector or line associated with the ABS system that was affected - but I think it was just the vacuum hose. The mechanic who got us back on the road said that when the hose went out, the ABS system thought the tire was locked so it shut off the brakes - apparently all of them. If I had been in city traffic, we'd have plowed into vehicles in front of us potentially resulting in death or severe injury for someone. …
1. Left front tire on 1999 Ford f350 four wheel drive dually with 18,800 odometer miles started to shake at highway speed approximately 10 seconds before tire blew from cord separation. Tire has almost full tread depth as new tire. It is a general grabber tr in 235/85-r16 size that was equipped as original equipment on this vehicle. Tire was inflated to manufacturers specified air pressure of 65 psi. All seven tires on this vehicle had been recently checked (within the last week) for proper inflation and any abnormalities. I was not towing a trailer. There were four adults in the vehicle at the time of this incident. 2. Tire blew violently, causing vehicle to swerve into oncoming lane of traffic. Fortunately, there was no oncoming traffic at that time. …
On October 17, 1998 after driving on a us montana 300 miles I had a front passenger tire blow out. The last I recall was jerking the wheel and when I corrected I struck a small irrigation bridge in the on coming lane causing my truck to roll. This caused me to fracture my skull, break my neck, and be hospitilized for seven weeks. I had an engineer, who is a private consultant for Goodyear, examine the photographs of my tire and sent me a report saying the tire failed due to lw air pressure. I had my tire checked by a certified Ford dealership the day prior to my accident and I have proof of that. If this tire is the fault of Goodyear it should be recalled before others nearly die like I did. I have two peices of the tire and the rim in my possession. The engineer said if I found the tire I May find melted nylon on the sidewall which I did find the tire. …
Dt: the consumer purchased a Ford f350 extended cab dually in 1999. Three years ago the tire cable that holds the spare tire underneath the vehicle broke while pulling into a driveway. The consumer took vehicle to dealership and they replaced the spare tire cable free of charge. The dealer had no explanation as to why it happened. Since purchase the spare tire had not been used or touched by anyone. Recently, when at a tire shop while getting tires replaced and an oil change the serviceman noted there was no spare tire underneath the vehicle. The cable was again broken. The consumer was not aware of this, and did not know when the spare tire cable broke. The consumer contacted Ford dealer, but the warranty expired and the dealer would not replace the spare tire cable. The consumer contacted Ford customer service, and they too declined to offer any assistance. …

The tire on my truck kept leaking air down over a whole day. I would refill with air the next morning and would try and find where the leak was. Could not find any whole in the tire. When the service station took the wheel off the truck and put air into the tire we could hear air leaking out. We then located a crack in the aluminum wheel. We then located a second crack in the aluminum wheel. We then contacted a junk yard ( d&d, newcomers) about purchasing a used aluminum wheel Ford part # f 81a1007gb, both said that they do not sell this used wheel due to a manufacturing defect. We they ask if we could purchase a refurbished aluminum wheel and both again said that no one would refurbish the front part due to defect. I have contacted Ford motor company and the local Ford dealer hagerstown Ford service manager and they said that they know of no defect. …
Bought 6-10ply heavy duty truck tires for my Ford 350, dually, diesel truck & I rotated them every 6 months. When I was in a mall, a passer-by stopped me to tell me my left front tire, on the inside had a huge bubble in it. When I looked, it was around 8 to 10 in. Around & when I stopped, it did not go down, it stayed there. I only had them for about 2 yrs. I bought them from a & k tires on moody blvd., in flagler beach, fl. 32136 Goodyear would not even pro-rate them, I had to buy another tire. Now, I am afraid the other 5 will do the same & as a retiree, I can't afford to buy 6 tires every two years for my truck. I am afraid another bubble will come up on the other tires, but I am stuck with them. If it had blown out on the expressway, there could have been a serious accident, but thanks to a concerned passerby, there was no accident. …
