The contact owns a 2024 Ford F-150. The contact stated that following an unsuccessful Over-the-Air (OTA) software update, the display screen and instrument panel were constantly rebooting, with a loss of functionality for several electrical features. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where technicians associated the failure with NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V104000 (Electrical System, Exterior Lighting). After several service repairs and the inclusion of a field service engineer, the vehicle remained unrepaired and had been with the dealer for over two months. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided the contact with a case number. The contact was not provided any status updates because the master technicians were on extended leave. The failure mileage was approximately 25,000.
Purchased new vehicle May 2024 primarily for towing my recreational vehicle (2024 Ford F150 Pickup). June 2024 took vehicle to dealership indicating that I was intermittently getting a "Trailer Disconnect" warning while driving (loss of trailer brakes, lights etc.). Dealer indicated no issue found. Subsequently returned to dealership on 6 other occasions over 2 years after continuing to experience the failure. Replaced 7 pin connector on trailer and dealer has replaced the 7 pin on vehicle and Trailer Control Module (TCM) but problem persists. Early 2026 dealership performed a recall on TCM software - did not resolve the issue (vehicle intermittently indicates the trailer is disconnected while driving or manually activating the trailer brakes). …
KohlerWI53044United States[redacted]"Something needs to be done about this issue. It has only been getting worse over the years. There are also people now replacing more of their old headlights with these LEDs with out purchasing and replacing the reflectors; without replacing those they actually turn out to be worse than the headlights on these new vehicles that are just as bad or worse. Need to get recalls out on these newer vehicles. Own a car that is almost not possible to drive at night due to this issue. Have almost been in an accident every week being on second shift due to this issue. It is now getting so bad with these newer vehicles to the point we are even having issues driving a fullsize truck at night which has never happened to us in our 15 years of driving. …
The component that is malfunctioning is the LCD dash screen that contains all of the dash indicators (Speed, RPM, gear indicator, etc.). The issue is that without warning, different colored lines flash across the screen. It is distracting and I am quite worried that if the screen goes out, I will not know how fast I am going, and I won't be able to see any of the dash indicators related to the system status. It is getting worse every day that I have the vehicle, and now the whole screen is flickering. I purchased the vehicle approximately 3 days ago and the issue has recurred every single day and I have taken a video every time it occurs (as of this report I have 7 videos). The vehicle has not been confirmed by the dealer or others because the dealer will not let me bring it in until their next available appointment on 3 March 2025. There are no warning lamps or messages that come up. …
DanvilleVA24543-0062United States1/1/2026"These lights are extremely blinding and have been the specific cause of several near accidents by a friend when I was a passenger. They should be outlawed outright. Period. Jerk drivers nowadays don't bother to dim them either. They should also force manufacturers to put all of them at the same height from the road, most especially those huge pickups that jerks drive to make themselves proud and better than everyone else, that have billion candlepower headlights blasting in your rear view mirrors that blinds everything, the road, your dashboard, your windshield, the interior of your car, as well as in the front of your face. Respectfully submitted, except for the jerk idiots who don't dim their lights even when the low lights are too bright to start with. [redacted] Danville, VA"
As I am driving at night, I am frequently blinded by excessively intense headlights, very often those on large pickup trucks like the F150. If I blink my high beams at them, the blink back with their even more intense high beams! It is obvious that the 1) the low beams are far too bright for oncoming drivers and 2) that the low beams are not aimed at the road, but at the windshields of oncoming cars. This temporarily blinding of oncoming drivers is very problematic, especially for drivers with cataracts that have not yet been treated. My wife has had to stop driving at night. The NHTSA should adopt maximum brightness standards and the police should enforce them with tickets and fines for those who violate these standards.
The design of this and similar model vehicle headlights are excruciatingly painful when on during night and day to oncoming drivers and to those drivers where the vehicle approaches from behind. It is unbelievable that our own government agency, NHTSA, that is set up to protect the public allows such blatant harmful headlight designs on vehicles. You may thank you are accustomed to the high intensity LED lighting, but I bet every time one of these LED lite vehicles approaches, you squint, look away, are partially blinded, and distracted without knowing it. Maybe now you will. Stacking these damn lights totally disregarding the health and safety of the public!!
Blinding LED headlights from this vehicle around 5:45pm on way to grocery store. Height of headlamps above ground level, intensity of the weird light emitted caused my wife & I in our vehicle to be blinded to pedestrians in store parking lot. As a driver, after getting a full blast of this light I was seeing blanked out visual field. Sight started coming back, I continued process of parking, (after obstructing traffic from stopping until I could see) and scared a pedestrian I could not see even after the sensation of returned sight. Please do something about these unnecessarily bright lights. I must not be the only one.
LancasterNH3584United States[redacted]"I keep saying why do people need to see up a raccoons a_ _ a mile away. They are blinding me. When someone goes by me at night with LED lights I am blinded. It is not a good feeling when you are wondering if you are still in your lane because you can't see anything other than extremely bright lights. They need to be banned. i never had problems driving and still don't with regular lights they don't bother me but the LEDS are horrible. Please get rid of them."
