I work for the university of california san diego fleet services. We have several 2014 Ford e-350's in our rental fleet. Some time a few years back Michelin recalled many of the ltx tires on many of our vans. The dot code on the tires on this van did not fall under the Michelin recall. As you can see in the photo this tire had a tread separation on a rear tire, van full of passengers. We are really lucky this van did not roll over. This happened traveling on the highway at speeds within the posted limit. The tread as it came separated from the tire damaged the undercarriage of the van & pulled a loose heater hose which caused coolant to leak and the van over heated & left a group stranded in the desert. We believe Michelin May want to take another look at the date codes that should be covered under this recall. …
Steel rim failure. Purchased vehicle with 8000 miles on odometer October 2014. As of today December 2017 the odometer reads 141,000 miles . I have replace all four rims on this vehicle one by one. First issue I was loosing hub caps while driving continuously,I finally gave up and took all off, left bare rims. Then the second issue was rims cracking and failing at the welded point where the spokes/struts are attached. The same failure is the same place over and over. Noticed this issue while driving and TPMS light would come on,I would pull over and by the time I got stopped the tire was completely flat. Very dangerous issues for other drivers on the road as well as myself and family .
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 Ford e-350. While driving approximately at 55 MPH, the rear passenger side tire blew out without warning. The contact stated that the dealer (jack schmitt Chevrolet of wood river, 1870 e edwardsville rd, wood river, il 62095) were aware the tires were not for the vehicle when it was sold to the contact. The manufacturer was contacted. The VIN was unknown. No tire information was available. The failure mileage was 67,000.
I am owner of jwd delivery, a fedex home delivery contractor, I have 4 of the same trucks 2012/2013 and there are many others in our terminal. They all have the same issue, excessive tire wear of front tires. The tires fail inspection after 5-7K miles. Over $8K in tires on four trucks in less than a year and a half. Trucks have between 25K and 50K miles on them.had a Ford engineer look at them and the body company did not factor in the weight and distribution when they but this body on this chasis. The engineer stated these trucks are dangerous and can flip over or fail to stop due to this problem. The body company will not fix the problem or take responsibility. These need to be fixed, replaced, or taken of the road as dangerous. I have been working on this myself for over a year to get fix and find the problem before someone does get injured or killed. …
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 Ford e-350 equipped with b.f. Goodrich tires, size: lt 225/75r16. While driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle began to bounce violently. The contact pulled the vehicle over and discovered that the rear driver side tire tread had separated and noticed a blister in the tire. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was confirmed that the tread had separated and the tire needed to be replaced. The tire was replaced. The contact mentioned that the rear passenger side tire was replaced approximately ten months ago due to the same failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate vehicle failure mileage was 100,000 and the tire failure mileage was unknown.
Consumer writes in regards to dealership decided not to honor tire recall. All 6 tires were inspected and found to be a part of the recall. The consumer was advised to try another establishment. However, the retailer stated they were a small business, and could not afford to honor the recall. The consumer decided to pay cash for the tires.
Traveling westbound in hwy 54 east of stratford, tx the left rear tire exploded on our 2008 pleasure-way rv. This rv is built on a Ford e350 chassis. The vehicle immediately became uncontrollable and drifted into the path of an oncoming tractor-trailer. Driver steered vehicle to the right to avoid the oncoming truck, the rv crossed over the road into a ditch on the right, again turned to the left and re-entered the roadway at a sharp angle causing the vehicle to roll onto its right side. Passenger 1 sustained a broken right shoulder and back injuries, passenger 2 sustained a severely sprained wrist. Tire pressure was checked before beginning the trip, and tires were visually inspected at a rest stop 90 minutes before incident. Vehicle was lightly loaded and well below gvwr. These were OEM tires with less than 10,000 miles and had always been properly maintained. …
The car was vibrating incessantly. A loud bang, thud heard from the right front tire. Pull off the side of highway 220, southbound, about 10 miles north of hico, tx. The entire rubber around the steel belt was stripped off. The blow out caused damage to the running board and tire wheel area. I purchased these 4 tires on 7/21/11 so there are only 2 yrs old with about 20-25 miles on them. Before this blow out, I actually replaced two of the other tires replaced weeks before. One on of them, the car shook violently and the tire had a giant bulge. 3000 miles later, almost 2 weeks, the second tire started stripping off the rubber and tearing apart. Car shook then too. The third tire (story in first paragraph) completely tore apart before we could get to a safe spot to check it out. When each tire had a noticeable problem, I did the following: 1. …
