Which parts fail
Components named in complaints (accelerator pedal, throttle, sudden acceleration, cruise control).
Mileage when the problem started
What owners report
The throttle on my 2006 Ford van began sticking at approx. 55,000 miles. This is not a pedal issue, it was the throttle butterfly itself that was sticking. The problem resulted in extended stopping distance and finally forced me to run a red light, but did not cause an accident (for me) it would also cause the van to rev up very high when first started, even when no gas had been applied. You also had to hold your foot very firmly on the brake at a stop, or the vehicle would accelerate to approx. 40 MPH. I took it to the dealer repeatedly (city Ford in cartersville ga) and argued with the service manager all the way up to the owner of the dealership, and they refused to fix it because they considered it normal wear. A sticking throttle, particularly on a vehicle which uses electronic throttle control, vs a cable should never be "normal". …
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 Ford e-150. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 MPH, the vehicle started shaking uncontrollably and hesitated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, who diagnosed that the throttle body and motor assembly needed to be repaired. The vehicle was been repaired for the same failure three times but the failure was recurring. The vehicle was not further been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 44,373.
Tl contact owns a 2004 Ford econoline e150. He received a safety recall notification letter in August 2007 on the Ford vehicle speed control. The information provided in the letter is fraudulent and misleading and the dealer lead him to believe that a repair was going to be made during his appointment. The contact was later informed after the switch was disconnected that the part was not available. He has called Ford every month since receiving the notification in August and every month he has been told that the parts would be available the following month. He has also tried more than one Ford dealership and he received the same response. If he cannot have his car repaired that he would like to negotiate a refund. There are no failures at this time. The current mileage was 48,000. Updated 01/17/08 updated 01/17/08
When driving on a highway with the vehicle speed cruise control on, the component will shut off without warning. I have brought the auto back to the dealer twice with this complaint, both times I was told that the problem was fixed. Both times the component failed again while in use. I will be bringing the auto in to the dealer again in two days for the same repair. I see that Ford motors has been aware of this problem publicly since oct. 01, 2004.
2003 e150 conversion van gas pedal got stuck 3 times causing an accident. The rear cargo door was repaired, the fan clutch was replaced. The running board did not fit correctly. Air conditioner blown warm air. The exhaust was blowing out white smoke. There was a knocking sound coming from the engine. The gas tank was not completely full even though the consumer filled up the tank.
E-150 1.cruise control use. 2.occurs intermittently while driving. 3. Ford refused. My symptom, model, and year of vehicle is included on Ford recall update of 6/26/08 as fire hazard but because my VIN is not listed Ford refuses even to examine my vehicle under the recall. This is the recall on the Ford van cruise control that is not an acceptable answer I plan on going across the country and I want the cruise control fixed before that. Nine months to wait for a part is customer service at its finest. Its very strange that I can get the part through the Ford dealer within two weeks if I order it from the parts department. Affected customers will receive a postcard from recall headquarters instructing them to make an appointment with their dealer to have the recall completed. …
2002 Ford econoline w/5.4 v8. From brand new until now the engine surges off idle. In parking lots this has been quite a problem as the van jumps 3 to 4 feet as I try to slowly back out of the parking space. Have scacred myself and a few pedestrians. This is not a safe situation and I haven't gotten any answers form Ford.
