**Subject: URGENT VEHICLE SAFETY CONCERN - Steering Failure, Track Bar Bracket/Frame Damage, and Risk to Family Safety - 2012 Ram 2500** To Ram Customer Care and the Vehicle Safety Team, I am requesting immediate attention to a serious safety concern involving my 2012 Ram 2500 4 4 with the 6.7L Cummins diesel engine. This is not simply a complaint about suspension performance or the cost of repairing an older truck. My concern is the history of steering and suspension failures that could put the driver, passengers, children, and other road users at risk. The factory drag link broke in half while I was driving down a steep hill. That was a frightening and dangerous experience. The truck also had problems while it was still at stock suspension height. I believed the stock suspension was responsible, which is why I later installed an aftermarket lift. …
I was driving down a county road, another vehicle ran a stop sign in front of me I swerved and the vehicle went airborne off the road and impacted head on to other side of the drainage ditch off the road. My airbag was not deployed and my head impacted the steering wheel.
The contact's son owns a 2011 Dodge Ram 1500. The contact stated that while his son was driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal grinding and rubbing sound coming from the rear end of the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for brake service. The contact stated that while the vehicle was being repaired, the independent mechanic confirmed the abnormal grinding and rubbing sound. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was advised to contact the dealer for assistance. The contact was informed of NHTSA Campaign Number: 10V656000 (Suspension); however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V160000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The dealer was made aware of the failure; however, the contact was informed that the repair was not covered under the recall. …
Yesterday, the Front Right Wheel completely separated from the axel while driving 25 mph. The truck veered sharply to the right, crashing into the driver's side of a fortunately unoccupied parked car, and continued to the right into the curb. I was not seriously injured, though my neck was strained. The tire and rim were destroyed, and it appears that the metal attachment from the wheel to the car was completely sheared through. There was also extensive Front End damage. Had I made it another mile to the parkway, this would have been a fatal injury to me, as well as other drivers. The truck was just inspected 2 days prior to this occurrence by a Certified Dodge Ram Dealer (NY Facility #[redacted]) with a clean health record. It is currently at the North Star Auto Body [phone]) awaiting inspection by the Allstate Insurance adjuster (Claim # [redacted]). A police report was also filed. …
i recieved a recall for the rear axle pinion nut, took truck in and was told my truck was not involved. then i recieved another recall for the same thing and took truck in and they installed a retainer on the nut and this was supposed to fix the problem. now at 85,000 miles the pinion came loose so the retainer was not the answer. took to dealer and they want me to pay then try to get my money back from chrysler. i think chrysler should fix it at there cost because they knew they had a bad product to start with. truck is well taken care of not beaten normal driving. there is no way a rear end should go out at 85,000 miles. sent a notice to chrysler complaint dept but no responce, gues they just dont care.hope you do
I went to the car wash in the afternoon, I parked truck in driveway when I got home. Ate lunch with my kids and went outside after and was enjoying the summer weather and unexpectedly my truck started rolling in the driveway and crashed into trees on my property. I got a stick stuck in my leg trying to get my truck out of the woods that became infected. Truck went to dealership and 2 recalls were fixed. The Brake Transmission Shift Interlock (BTSI) described in the recall is exactly what happened in this incident. Causes a rollaway vehicle that may cause crash or injury unexpectedly with no warning. I reported it to Mopar and Stellantis and made claims with both.

The VIN was unavailable. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.
Driving on 390n in rochester n.y. At approx. 5 pm heavy traffic .loud bang and rear tires locked up,, both granddaughters began to scream" whats happening". I had no clue. Looked to right to try to get out of traffic and saw what I thought was my driveshaft spit out from under r r tire.. We were lifted up in air at back of truck and I lost all propulsion, mind you my 5 and 6 year old are screaming as the other half of the drive shaft pounds on the pavement and bottom of truck .I still have no idea what is happening. Somehow and that's what I told the sheriff I got the truck which was now freewheeling off to the side of the road approx. 75-100 ft from my driveshaft that hit the bridge guardrail and stopped from hitting anyone in traffic. I collected myself ,calmed the girls whos big concern was now,, someone is going to smash us and called 911 and my daughter. Then I looked. …
