What owners report

Case description I had a recalls on my 2008 Dodge Magnum for airbags, and ignition. Had it towed to comminwealth Dodge cause it stopped running while driving. They replaced the ignition, and supposedly replaced airbags also. The ignition allowed the car to then restart. However when I went to pick the car up it ran really badly, and had all the warning lights in the dash on. I confronted the dealership about this before even leaving the lot. They told me I would have to pay to have it looked at. I towed it to a different dealership where they found the main wiring harness pulled apart under the dash. After I picked the car up from them I've had the worst electrical problems imaginable. I've been stranded in ellensburg wa for 3 months, the battery died every 3-4 weeks. FCA will not even return any of my calls, and the dealership just tried to sell me a new car when I contact them. …

Every time we drove the car, exhaust fumes came in the passenger compartment. We took it to the dealer 25 times. They could not fix it. We took it to the health department, they put an carbon monoxide detector in it and they said it was poisoning us with deadly fumes and told us not to drive it. I caught pneumonia five times in the eight months we owned it. The dealer wouldn't help us, Dodge wouldn't help us. It was at the time Dodge was faking bankruptcy. I took it back to the dealer, the service writer finally said it was OK for exhaust to get in the passenger compartment. I told him it was against federal law for my family to breathe their exhaust and not to call us until it was fixed. I never heard from them again until I received a letter informing us we owed Chrysler financial $25,000 for,,, a car we could not drive. …

My 2007 Dodge Magnum RT (5.7L Hemi) suffers from a dangerous engine stall immediately after refueling. The vehicle is equipped with the 19-Gallon Fuel Tank. When refueling, if the tank is filled to capacity, the engine stumbles and shuts off completely upon leaving the gas station. This stall occurs without warning in traffic, causing an immediate loss of power steering and power braking assistance, which creates a severe risk of a collision. This is the identical failure addressed in NHTSA Investigation PE13-016 and Chrysler Warranty Extension X53. The internal Multifunction Control Valve (MFCV) is defective; the float has swollen and remains stuck in the "open" position. This allows liquid fuel-not just vapor-to flood the EVAP system and the engine intake. …

First instance, while slowing down for a stop light felt a shudder and engine shut off, all other systems appeared normal. Coasted to stop, engine restarted without trouble. Near full tank of fuel. Second instance, while in a parking lot shifting from park to reverse engine shut off, all other systems appeared normal and engine restarted without trouble. Filled fuel tank the previous day, 3/4 tank today. Has happened on other occasions while driving at slow speeds but I do not remember the quantity of fuel, each time that car has restarted without instance and each time everything else appeared normal. The engine always seems to run properly and all of the cars other systems seem to operate normally.

This is the second time I have been stuck on the side of the road showing that my car has a quarter tank of gas and it just dies on me. I was rescued with some fuel and it started right back up again. Upon checking for recalls for this issue, I came across some 2005 to 2006 Dodge magnums or chargers with fuel tank recalls. I called Chrysler and they are saying my vin does not apply to the fuel tank recall. How is it, I am having the same exact issue as those vin's affected by this recall. I think it is something to look into. I have gone on Dodge forums and read people's stories about the same issue as I am having and I am sure they are unaware of the steps they can take with the NHTSA to file a complaint where an investigation could be imminent. Please advise. This has happened more than once so now I consider an empty tank when I am at a quarter tank reading on my gas meter.

The vehicle stalled during normal use traveling about 35 miles an hour right after an intersection. MY husband was able to safely make it off the road as we live in a small town he did this by feathering the accelerator pedal. He is a mechanic so he was able to get it home by lightly tapping the pedal. If he pressed the pedal too hard the car stalled without warning so he lightly tapped on it and made it 2 blocks to our home where it has set in the driveway ever since. We spent over $1000 replacing parts such as the throttle body and the fuel pump and sending unit, egr, pcv, crankshaft sensor, plugs, injectors, intake seals, air intake temperature sensor and throttle body which include the throttle position sensor. Before we went for the cam sensor I decided to look up the issue and found so many with the same problem as us. …

The malfunction to report is after fueling the vehicle will stall out. There is the sign of the fuel sending unit and fuel pump cycling after the ignition is turned on. This only occurs after topping off the fuel. The safety of operation is the stalling may occur while driving as well as at sitting still. When driving and the vehicles stalls causes the steering wheel to stiffen and the must come to a complete stop, placed in park, turn off the ignition and wait for the possible reset. The problem has not been reviewed on my particular vehicle but has been reported by other 2005 Magnum owners. No other manufacturing process has inspected my vehicle. And there are no warning lights that come to indicate there is a problem.
