What owners report

I had flat tires in three of my 4 tires in a 6 week period. The first and third of these 3 flats were traced to a crack in the valve stem. The 2nd and 3rd flats occurred at highway speeds within 50 minutes of each other damaging both tires beyond repair. The second tire caused severe pulling to the right. By the time I pulled over the tire was smoking. Sears had installed these tires in 2006. They suspect the tech tr413 valve stem was the culprit. Sears agreed to replace all tires with new. This work has not yet been done yet so one valve stem remains installed and will be closely inspected upon replacement. Do you want this valve stem returned for inspection? The police provided an escort for tire failure #2 so police records surely exist though I filed no formal report.

Tires consistently lose air pressure and must be re-inflated anywhere from 5 to 14 days apart. Taken to tire dealer who inspected the wheels and tires on various occasions over the last three years and told that the tires are fine, and the lost air pressure is due to the wheels.

Subject: mastercraft tire tread separation comments: in March, 2003, I purchased a 2002 Dodge Intrepid using ebay. The car had 8,000 miles and carfax showed no accidents. When the car arrived, I noticed it had two new mastercraft sensy tires on the front, unusual for that low mileage. Upon inspection, I found that the right tie rod end had been bent and not repaired, the likely cause of the new tires. I then replaced the right tie rod end and had all four wheels aligned. As the tires had a tread wear rating of 620, I figured there were good for many miles. In late July, 2006, the car had 32K miles. I was hearing a loud "slapping" sound on the front end. Taking the car to a costco car center, they determined that both tires had tread separation, requiring immediate replacement. The tires had less than 25K miles on them. …

Engine in 2000 Chrysler Intrepid started tapping noise at 58017km brought to dealer with complaint, told they would not take engine apart to check noise. I told them I had been told that the 2.7 engine had problems with sludge that prevented the oil from circulating properly. They still refused to check engine. At just over 62000 km engine became noisy. Brought it back to dealer who kept the car for two weeks, then told me engine needed to be replaced at a cost of $6500.00 and there would be no warranty coverage or goodwill. I gave them a complete history of maintenance records showing that proper maintenance was done with in the required mileage and time. They have told me that the invoices do not clearly identify my 2000 black Intrepid and that it could of been another car. I only own one 2000 Intrepid. The invoice shows the work the mileage and my name and date. …

Tl contact owns a 2000 Dodge Intrepid. The vehicle has dominator all season tires, size p225/75r15. While driving 65 MPH, the contact heard a smacking noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. He pulled over and noticed that the rear driver's side tire had been separating and peeling off, leaving pieces of rubber in the middle of the road. He took the vehicle to a nearby gas station and had the tire replaced. The contact believes that the tire should not have separated so quickly and that a recall should be issued. The VIN and dot number were unknown. The current and failure mileages were 89,000.

While driving and without warning the vehicle's tire would not grip on the wet road. The incident happened when the road was wet and while the consumer was going around a curve. The vehicle also developed a vibration in the steering wheel. The dealer was unable to fix the vehicle and suggested the vehicle was like this when the it was purchased. (tire model/radial gt)

I purchased a 1999 Dodge Intrepid in February of 1999 (new) from santa rosa Dodge in santa rosa, california. This vehicle was equipped with Goodyear quantum series tires. During the scheduled 6,000-mile service and in the process of rotating all four of my tires, it was discovered that one of the tires had developed a 4" diameter bulb in it on the interior. I was advised to take it into a Goodyear dealer and have it replaced as it was covered under their warranty and not daimlerchrysler's. This Goodyear dealer instantly stated that the damage was caused by some sort of road hazard and was not covered by their warranty. I subsequently contacted Goodyear in akron, ohio and they suggested I get a second opinion, which I did. In addition, after a very brief inspection, I was told the same thing. Apparently, there was a tear on the interior wall of the tire. …

I bought this car on 3/2002. Since I bought it I have replaced the starter three times; had a full front end replacement; new engine put in; new transmission; studs broke from the front tire and while the tire was rolling down the road my card was skidding down the road with my 2 month old granddaughter in the car. Now the electronic system is completely screwed up and the car is not even running. I have all my paperwork where the repairs were done. I believe that Chrysler needs to replace this vehicle "no questions asked" because we have spent over $6,000 fixing this piece of junk.
