Van had engine stall while going down highway. Lost all power due to this..was only going about 45 so was able to maintain control and get to side of the road. Was in the rural area so traffic was light...daughter and granddaughter was in van with me ...this could have been tragic if I had been on interstate or on busy highway...was told by machanic that fuel relay TIPM gone out
Fuel pump continues to stay on when vehicle is off with no key in ignition. This is causing battery drain and hard starts after jumping battery. Car also is stalling at times while in motion. I have seen a recall for other males and models of same year from mopar vehicles, such as durango. It seems to be fuel pump relay in TIPM.
The contact owns a 2011 Dodge Caravan. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start up without warning. Her father inspected under the hood and discovered that the wiring within the fuse box was melting due to the fuel pump relay. The contact went to an independent mechanic where she purchased jump wire cables and fuses. Her father repaired the vehicle and the vehicle resumed normal driving operation. Recently, while her son was stopped at a stop light, the vehicle began shaking and shut-off without warning. Her son was able to restart the vehicle however, the failure returned soon after start-up. Upon inspection, the contact discovered that the replacement wires had started melting. Despite the failure, the contact's son was able to drive the vehicle home where it remained. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. …
Tl* the contact owns a 2011 Dodge Caravan. The contact stated that the totally integrated power module failed to work. The contact mentioned that the vehicle would not start at times, loses power and drains the battery. There were no warning signs that illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that the totally integrated power module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the problem recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The failure mileage and VIN were unknown. Ma 10/2 the consumer stated the vehicle shut off, while driving down the road. The fuel pump stayed on when the was turned off, causing the battery to go die. Updated 10/08/15
Original owner of the vehicle. This is actually a report of 5-6 separate incidents of the same issue within a week's span. The engine of the vehicle suddenly shuts off while driving. It is instant and silent, with no pre-warning. Driver loses all power steering / brakes during the occurrence. Last incident almost caused an accident when the vehicle's engine stalled and a following vehicle had to take action to avoid a collision. My wife and kids were in the van at the time of the incident. When it happens, the van always starts back up, but it has to be stationary and in-park. Vehicle was taken to the dealership on 01/23/15 for repair. Dealership indicated the EGR valve and temperature sensor was faulty and has been a common problem for decades. This is the second temperature sensor that has been replaced by the dealer. …
My 2010 Dodge grand Caravan stalls 5 to 10 times per week. It stalls at any speed and at any time (warm or cold). Since the Dodge dealership could not find the issue (hats off to their ineptitude), after further research, I learned the issue is due to failure of the totally integrated power module (TIPM) and affects other Dodge/Chrysler products . See NHTSA action number: dp14004. However, NHTSA stance on this is 'except insofar as the petitioner's contentions relate to the defect condition addressed by the Chrysler recalls, the factual bases of the petitioner's contentions that any further investigation is necessary are unsupported. …
At about 140,000. Check engine light came on then off and on again. Replaced gas cap. Engine light still came off and on, one or other for extend time. Returned and after a check they said I needed to get it back when light was on. Finally last March at 153,000. I returned and they informed me it was my converter. I feel that the converter failed prematurely and after complaints did not get me any where with Dodge I am complaining that the part, which had not been damaged, fail prematurely and that it is a defective part.
Purchased vehicle in April of 08 and in August of 08 it would not turn on while I was picking my daughter up from school. I took it in to the dealership but they couldn't find the problem. The same think happened twice in November and again in December, again they couldn't find the problem. In April of 09 it stalled again at a ball game while it was raining and thundering and I had my 5 and 1 year old with me. I called the dealership to get it towed so they could find the problem. Two days later they call me and say it was the fuel pump. I told them to check my brakes because I had heard them squeak that morning. They call that the rotors and pads are completely worn and they wouldn't let me drive it off the lot because it was unsafe. My vehicle only had 25,000 miles on it. My previous vehicle had 91,000 miles on it when I traded it in and rotors and pads had never been replaced. …
