Dt:the windshield wipers work intermittently and eventually stopped working altogether. The consumer could hear the motor running ,but they did not move the arms. Took vehicle to a dealer, and no repairs were performed because consumer's vehicle was not included in recall 03V159000 due to VIN. Dealer did not know why this problem occurred.
Dt*: the contact stated while driving in the rain the windshield wipers work intermittently and the windshield wiper motor made a grinding noise. Although the dealership was contacted, no repairs were made. The windshield wiper mot failed and had to be replaced.
Windshield wiper motor failed. Follow up with dealer after heard about recall and told recall did not cover my truck. I looked on your list of complaints filed and there appear to be over 100 failures reported related to these motors - why are these a recall item.
Current recall campaign (wiper motor solder defect) covering Chevrolet/GMC trucks with manufacturing dates from 8/94 - 5/96. My 1995 Chevrolet truck Silverado has a manufacturer's date of 11/94. According to the period of dates covered for this campaign, my truck should be covered. However, my truck has exhibited the intermittent wiper failure on three separate rainy conditions. When I presented the vehicle to the dealership for remedy of this issue, they rejected my request due to "my VIN not being a part of the recall group". I paid for the replacement of the wiper motor circuit board due to the upcoming rainy season and my desire to be able to see through the windshield clearly while driving. I just cannot help but wonder why my truck is not included in this campaign when the manufacturing date is well within range of the specified period. …
My 1995 Chevrolet Silverado windshield wiper control module was replaced by the dealer, but they failed to recognize it as part of the recall because my VIN is not listed as part of the recall group. If it exhibited the same symptoms as those that are included in that group, maybe the recall coverage was a little too thin and that my truck, as well as many others, should have been included. According to the recall notice, this campaign covers vehicles manufactured from August 1994 through May 1996. My truck has a manufacturering date of November 1994, which is well within the range. According to Chevrolet, only the VIN is used to determine whether a vehicle is recalled or not. If in fact this is the case, then NHTSA should not indicate the range of manufacturing dates, which is misleading and irrelevant. Please respond at your earliest.
Windshield wipers don't work half the time. Sometimes they work fine, sometimes they don't even start (just get a grinding sound from the wiper motor), and sometimes they work at full speed when set to slowest speed. C series trucks have been recalled for the exact same problem, but when Chevy customer support was contacted, they said it didn't apply to the k series (4 wheel drive) and that I was out of luck. C series was recalled for same problem in September of 1998. The original malfunctioning part was replaced on this truck in February of 1997 with the same malfunctioning part. In my opinion, since the recall of the cseries wasn't until 9/98, then the part that was replaced was the exact same malfunctioning part. What I want to know is why were only the cseries trucks recalled if it was a problem common to all of the Chevy trucks?
While traveling on the interstate in the rain the wipers stopped working. After playing with the wiper controls for about 5 mins the wipers came back on. At other times the wipers will not even turn on when the switch is turned to the on position. I took my truck to serra Chevrolet in bham al and they checked the computer to find my truck is not on recall even though almost every Chevy truck from 1994 to 1996 is on recall for this identical problem. I also contacted Chevy customer service by the internet, only to get the same advice. Have this problem fixed and if my truck goes on recall they will send out a notice and reimburse me for the repairs. The only problem with this is the original owner will be the person who receives this notice so I will only know by continuously checking your web site. Thank you.
The windshield wipers sometimes do not start when switched on. There are other times I am driving with the wipers on and they stop working for awhile then start and run for some time then stop. I have found that when the wipers are not running after being turned on that if I wiggle the connector at the wiper motor then they will start working, but while driving they May again shut off. I contacted Chevrolet and was told that my VIN number was not included under the recall for this problem. I would like for you to increase the recalled vehicles with this problem. My truck did not develope this problem until about 1.5 yrs ago and I didn't realize the systemic problem related to the wipers and thought it was just "this truck" until I saw the recall with this problem and found mine is not included. Thanks, wayne.
Windshield wipers work intermitently. At onset will go through 3 to 5 cycles then stop. On occasion I will hear a buzzing noise. Depending on how rough the road May work and stop again. I live in s cal. And it rains rather hard so much so, that on many occasion I've had to pull over immediately until the rain slackens. I've been following your web complaints and I see they are up to 181complaints. This I'm sure doesn't take into account the complaints made directly to the dealers or the customers that've elected to make the repairs on their own. And they've had a recall on the GM side of the house which has the same parts as Chevrolet.
Windshield wipers work intermittently. This has happened at a dozen times. Most recently with my mother in65 MPH in rain when the wipers stopped in the middle of the windshield. Talking to other g.m. Onwers, including my son, his '96 truck does the samething. At place of employement friends with a '94 & 96 models have had the same expirence. This is a safety issue that Chevrolet has acknowledged but not my VIN number. Where do they draw the line? I'm not a happy customer and I feel Chevrolet should take responsibilty because they are very much aware of this problem for years!
