What owners report
When driving, between the speeds of 40-50mph, the wheels would lock up without warning. This happened 4 times during the month of January, sometimes in 4wd. This occurred at speed when the vehicle seemed to be upshifting. Control of the vehicle would be lost during the lockup as the wheels would stop rotation entirely and rather violently. Check engine light came on after the 4th incident, reducing power and a code of P0747 "Pressure Control Solenoid "A" Stuck On". The transmission valve body was repaired by the local Chevrolet dealership under powertrain warranty. This is a known issue on previous years of this truck with the same transmission but has not been expanded to cover this vehicle. Thankfully, I was able to maintain contorol and was not in traffic when this occurred. …
While using adaptive cruise control, the system can detect a vehicle and immediately apply the brakes or slow down. In some cases, it may detect a vehicle (the vehicle icon appears) and trigger an immediate red collision light flash, followed by automatic braking. However, during these events, there were no cars ahead of the vehicle. There was no obstruction of sensors or cameras, and the incidents occurred in various weather conditions, including rain, snow, and clear days, both during the day and night. If the road is slick or slippery, this could potentially lead to a loss of control. Additionally, if another vehicle is following closely behind, it could result in a collision.
In 2024, I noticed that my truck was experiencing rough shifts. It felt as if the back wheels were jerking over uneven ground, even though the vehicle was on a flat surface. In November 2024, my sister sent me an article about General Motors' massive recall due to rear wheel lock-up, which increased the risk of crashes. I contacted GM and learned that my truck was part of the recall. I reported the issues my truck was exhibiting, and GM instructed me to reach out to my dealer about the problem. However, I was informed that they did not have the parts to fix the issue and had no idea when they would receive them. I asked GM if they would provide me with a rental vehicle, but they declined, stating that if they offered a rental to me, they would have to provide one for others as well, which was not feasible due to the large number of affected vehicles. …
The contact owns a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to respond. No warnings lights were illuminated. The contact pulled over to the side of the roadway, turned off and restarted the vehicle; however, while attempting to shift into drive the vehicle hesitated and failed to respond as needed. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.
It is a transmission control module wear a lobster transmission into a Garin. Will not let you speed up or speed down and it is unsafe and GM IS making us pay for the bill. The contact stated transmission control module all across the country on back order, you cannot get a dealer to get you one within six months GM should have to do something about this.
2011 duramax diesel Silverado 2500. When changing lanes in lake tahoe in heavy traffic engine suddenly went full throttle. I stood on brakes with both feet as the truck was burning rubber and nearly rear ended a handicapped van. I shut the engine off and the transmission slammed to a lower gear. Once I let traffic clear and re-started the computer reset and the throttle was fine. I managed to hook up my rv and head home but was careful not to accelerate very hard hoping it would not happen again. Truck is now in a local diesel repair shop being evaluated. Engine was revving close to 5,000 RPM. Thought for sure we were about to get in a serious accident or hit some people as there was very heavy vehicle and pedestrian traffic.
While pulling a horse trailer up a small mountain, heard alarm, engine lost power and reduced engine power message came up as well as ck eng light. Vehicle would not go over 40 MPH initially then went down to 30 MPH. Struggled 15 miles at 20-30 MPH to get it to my residence. Turned off for 15-20 minutes. Turned back on, ran normally but ck eng light was still on. Next morning, started up, ck eng light was off. Took to dealer. Said there were no codes and they had no idea what was wrong. I had to travel on a dual highway, pulling a horse trainer at 20-30 MPH with my flashers on. Also had to turn across dual highway on at grade intersections, not knowing of the truck was going to have enough acceleration to get across the highway.
While driving normally (35-40 MPH on a residential road) in dry conditions, the check engine light illuminates and the onboard error message reads "service traction control, service stabilitrak, engine power down." consequently, the vehicle will not travel faster than approximately 40 MPH and steering sharply becomes difficult. This error has occurred twice in the 11 weeks we have had our new 2009 Silverado 2500 hd. With the first repair (odometer 1101 miles), they could not find anything wrong with the truck. They just reset the computer. The second repair was 4 days ago (3948 miles). They found the "I/p to body harness connector corroded, cleaned the terminals, and applied dielectric grease." we are extremely fearful that this defect will occur again while we are towing a 5500 pound travel trailer. Without steering, stability and engine power a serious accident could occur. …
