The engine in my 2026 Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 with the 6.2L V8 had a catastrophic failure. While I was driving, the engine suddenly shut off and seized without any warning. The dealer told me they found metal in the engine oil and oil filter and that the engine needs to be replaced. They also informed me the replacement engine is on back order for more than five weeks. The truck is available for inspection. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? My truck lost all power while I was driving, which put me and other drivers at risk because it happened without warning. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes. The dealer inspected the truck and confirmed the engine had an internal failure. They found metal in the engine oil and oil filter and said the engine must be replaced. …
While driving, the vehicle shifted itself into Park without any driver input and the engine shut off. This has occurred on three occasions, first on May 24, 2026 at approximately 1,000 miles - three days after the vehicle was purchased new. It happened again at approximately 2,300 miles, and a third time at approximately 10,350 miles. Each occurrence happened at less than 10 mph - once while accelerating and twice while decelerating. No crash, fire, or injuries resulted. The vehicle was presented to an authorized Chevrolet dealer for this same defect on two occasions. On the first visit the dealer found no trouble code, could not duplicate the condition, and performed no repair. …
While driving this 2026 Chevy Silverado, the engine has shut off while driving it. While driving down the road the engine will shut off and a message on the display will show "Return to Neutral" and "Press Start". This is very dangerous to have a vehicle shut off while driving down the road as it affect my family and other drivers on the road. The vehicle need to be completely stopped to shift to Park, in order to start the vehicle again. There are no signs or warnings that this is going to happen, it just happens randomly. The dealer can not reproduce the problem but did confirm to me this has happened to several other same make/model vehicle that have been reported at the same dealership. On another unrelated safety issue with this same vehicle, the gas tank over flows when filling it up. Dealer was able to reproduce this problem, but doesn't know how to fix it yet. …
At about 800 miles i noticed ticking from the engine and random and intermittent jerking. Some of which were very severe that felt like someone rear ended me. I took into the dealer with my complaints. They kept my vehicle for 2.5 days and didnt give me a loaner. The my were unable to reproduce the jerking and said the ticking was normal. They showed me the ticking and said its normal and will go away after it warms up. They did a vehicle update and said it will help. They said theres nothing else they will do. I knew something was still wrong but felt like they wouldnt do anything and I couldn't give up my vehicle for days at a time. I continued to drive it and was planning on taking it to a other dealer for a check up. But at about 3500 miles. One day the truck began squealing and grinding. I attempted to drive the truck home and the truck just died on the freeway. …
A.The engine is stalling while driving. This has happened four different times. Three times while towing, and one time while backing up a small hill. This is a scary situation because three of the four times almost caused an accident. 1.We were driving to Texas, pulling a pontoon boat. While exiting the highway, we were entering into an intersection at a speed of about 10 miles per hour, and the truck shut down. The truck said, "Start the motor and place it into gear." Or something similar to that. 2.We were in stop-and-go traffic on the highway, and the truck shut down. Once again, I had to restart the motor and shift into gear. 3.We were entering a parking lot from the main road, and the truck shut down. Again, I had to restart the motor and shift into gear. 4.The three times above are during a time when we were towing. The fourth time is when we were backing up a small hill. …
