The dealership allegedly replaced the Takata airbag on the vehicle. Less than 50 miles later the "Service Airbag" dash light came on. When I took the vehicle back to the dealership they said "Yea, this happens a lot" They schedule an appointment to check it out. Their conclusion was that the two items were not related and that I would need to pay for parts and labor. They said the air bag sensor was bad. That dashboard light was never on before i took it in to the dealership. I spoke to Chevrolet customer service who stated that Dealerships are independent owner operators and since the item was closed in the recall data base that they couldn't do anything. Desiccated Air Bag Inflator Rupture

NHTSA investigation EA21002 · opened Sep 17, 2021 · open

From 2000 through 2017, Takata produced millions of air bag inflators using two types of phase-stabilized ammonium nitrate ("PSAN") propellant -- propellant 2004 and propellant 2004L. After prolonged exposure to high temperature cycles and humidity, inflators using propellant 2004 can degrade, causing the propellant to burn too quickly when ignited.
