Tl* the contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. While driving 60 MPH with the cruise control activated, there was a sudden increase of engine rpms without warning. The contact engaged the brakes in order to disengage the cruise control, which caused the vehicle to spin and crash into a concrete wall. The passenger sustained injuries to the shoulder and head that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence and was not inspected. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 37,000.

Heater blower motor fire's on 2005 Chevy Monte Carlo ls, replaced twice !!! Fire both times. The first time was probably around 18,000 miles or so. Then the second time was around 27,000 miles or so. (I would have to find my reciepts to verify exactly). But, both times the car's blower motor was on fire !!! Alot of smoke, thick electrical burning smell. A man came over to help me (as I am handicapped by polio, and could not get out of my car myself), after it had been burning for about 1/2 hour , the man poured water into the firewall area that was burning, it still took about another half hour to try to stop the fire. But only the fan motor and close vacinity burned. But it could have been worse if that man had not come along and poured bottle water on it repeatedly for many, many tries before extinguishing the fire. My car was repaired at where I purchased the Monte Carlo new.". …
First off, the speedometer started to incorrectly measure the speed and slowly over 3 months it stopped working totally and now doesn't work at all. In addition after buying the car it had a clunking noise when making turns at slow speed..I brought the vehicle in 2 times for this problem and it wasn't fixed either time and gave up because GM couldn't fix it and was going to charge me once I was out of warranty.
I have had the car since 3/05 brand new off the show room floor, currently have about 38K miles on the vehicle -since I have owned the vehicle more than 20 times while driving all of the lights will come on the dashboard and the seatbelt light will chime --then the battery light will remain on for approx 15 to 20 minutes-have had the vehicle on for service numerous times and they have replaced module after module -cannot diagnose problem. On at least 5 occasions while driving at highway speeds of 50mph or more the vehicle will just turn off and everything will lock up. Vehicle will restart right away but there is no warning that the vehicle is about to stall or turn off --had in for service numerous times -have been assured that the problem is fixed and then it will happen all over again. …
Speedometer doesn't work most of the time. It will freeze or go to 0 at any time or at any speed. This is a g.m. Problem that has resulted in recalls on some SUV's but not any cars. If you were to google g.m speedometer problems you will get over 200,000 hits. Dealers know the problem exists but g.m is denying it is a safety problem. I have to assume when you are driving a car and don't know how fast you are going that is a safety issue. G.m customer service says there May be a recall someday if they get enough complaints...the car in question is a 2004 with 9500 miles. I feel this is something that needs to be researched. To recall some trucks and SUV's but not the cars is stupid. I would hope our gov't can help resolve this problem...after all g.m would like our tax dollars. Thank you
The heater fan kept turning on and off and I had to have a new ignition switch put in . At times the fan would quit working while going down the road.other times the fan would not turn on. The cruise light would blink when the heater fan was turned on and the cruise would quit while driving down the road.. I saw on the news last night where there was a recall. I've not recivedany info.
Dt: the contact stated when attempting to pass another vehicle the contact's vehicle lurched forward. She pressed the brake pedal to the floor but the vehicle would not stop. She then placed the vehicle in neutral, which slowed the speed. The vehicle eventually stopped. When she took the vehicle to an independent repair shop, the mechanic determined that the throttle was stuck. The mechanic cleaned the throttle system, and replaced the brake pads. The brakes appeared to be damaged as a result of her attempts to stop the vehicle. This was not covered by warranty. There have been no further problems.
