There was a recall on the 1995 Chevy blazer and certain 1994-1996 c-k trucks, tahoes and suburbans for a windshield wiper problem,I had a 1995 blazer, and I also have a 1995 truck. I took the blazer in for repair which they fixed. Now my truck is doing the very same thing, which is, sometimes when I turn on the wipers, they work intermittently or not at all. This is a serious problem when I'm going 65 MPH in the rain. I called Chevrolet customer assistance only to find out my truck is not on the recall list, but I assure you it should be, because it is unsafe.
When driving the wipers will quit working. The cause of failure is the wiper control module. This happened to me. A mechanic told me there was a recall on this component, when I checked with the local dealer they stated that my vehicle was not part of the recall. I had to purchase module to repair myself. Driving was impared at failure because it was raining and it was possible to restart wipers by getting out of the vehicle and moving the wipers. But the next failure of wipers might happen only a couple of miles down the road.
This is a known problem and a recall has been made (mfg. Campaign # 98043) my vehicle's VIN # does not fall under this particular recall but has identical problem and vehicle description on this recall is an identical match to my vehicle. (95 Chevy p/u 4wd) I contacted Chevrolet and because my VIN # did not match current recall, they would not help me. I feel this is a known problem and certain vehicles were left out of the recall that should have been included. Any assistance would be appreciated....thank you.
Windshield wipers fail to work due to a malfunction solder joint. Campaign #98043 wipers. While driving windshield wipers are needed or when cleaning windshield wipers are inoperable, causing poor driver's visibility. Consumer stated sometimes they won't go off. Consumer has yet to contact the dealer. Consumer is questioning why the dealer inisists that this vehicle is not covered under recall regarding windshield wiper problems.
Intermittently windshield wipers quit working in middle of operation. Sometimes if turning the vehicle off and wait operation continues. Sometimes consumer has to tap on black box on the firewall for operation to continue. Problem has been reported to dealership/manufacturer. Truck was not included in recall due to VIN. Problem has not been corrected.
The 4-wd actuator failed to work properly in cold or warm weather. The problem was intermittent, but currently constant. Also, windshield wiper motor failed to work. Would stop without warning 11/1/99. This caused difficulty for the driver to see while driving. Had taken vehicle to dealership & mechanic repaired the 4-wd actuator & wiper motor.
Windshield wipers malfunctioned while in use, affecting visibility which May result in a crash. Wipers will fail after operating for a few minutes and come on again later. There is a recall for this problem, but the vehicle is not included in the recall due to VIN# although it has the same defect.
When I turn on the switch for the windshield wipers they will not operate every time. A friend of mine had the same problem, general motors repaired his wiper motor under the recall, they told me my vehicle was not included in the recall even though I am experencing the same problem.
Driving during rain when windshield wipers stopped. Was no warning or noise to indicate a problem. Windshieldwipers stopped in an upright position. Would need to wait a long enough for windshield wipers to come back on & then turn off. Will come sometimes.
Windshield wipers will not work in the rain. Took to dealer, and they replaced wiper motor and transmission assembly. Consumer was still having problems. Consumer felt this was dangerous because there could be an accident if stopping while on a highway.
