What owners report
All instruments failed. After a couple restarts they came back on. Lane departure alert doesn't work now. From a web search, I'm afraid it's just the beginning. No, I haven't taken it to the dealer; they charge for diagnosis. And it hasn't been inspected. The problem doesn't act up all the time. There are no warning lights, the system just fails. I have 50,600 miles on it. If you find what I've found in my web search, the cost of repair is staggering, especially for retirees. I hope you look into Chevrolet's problem they've been having with the Impala.
1. The display screen went black while driving using navigation. The fault was a defective hmi module, GM part # 84296482 at a cost of $1100 (see attached document). The sudden loss of the screen was disconcerting and could have caused an accident. This should lead to a recall and reimbursement of the repair cost. 2. When the adaptive cruise control (acc) causes the brakes to be applied it does so very suddenly and in the ABS "chattering" mode even when there is no collision danger. This produces a jolt to the drivers and occupants which is an unexpected and unsafe response.
The connector on the drivers side module is corroded from water intrusion. It is an identical condition as described in NHTSA recall N172097060. The dealer and GM claims this vehicle was not included in the recall, even though it is a 2015 Chevrolet Impala. They now want me to pay 1,000+ dollars to fix the issue according to the steps in the bulletin? If i don't get this fixed soon is it could disable my vehicle as explained in the bulletin. I purchase the car in November of 2019 which is 7 months after this bulletin was released, and because GM did not include the VIN number in their system it was never corrected previously. The connector in the images is damaged now because the mechanic broke it at the dealer trying to get it off from the internal corrosion. …
Blind side collision monitor is not functioning properly due to faulty design which allows moisture to get into cabin where the monitor is installed. Causing the collision feature not to function properly and "service side collision" msg to show on the dashboard. I had this issue before and had it repaired by the dealer on 03/2019. The problem has since returned. But this time it's caused the functions on the dashboard ( gas, h/c and speed meters, digital monitor screen etc) to stop working where I can't tell if I have gas or my driving speed or anything associated with the dashboard info system, it blacks out. And now the alert light on the door mirrors continuously stay on even when there's no car on the side of my vehicle and even when the car is turned off. I took it back to the dealership and have been told that the collision monitor sensors AGAIN need to be replaced.
When I drive down the road my blind spot detection sensor goes off and lights up in the passenger mirror. It lights up if there is or is not a vehicle in my blind spot and has made me swerve back because I think there is someone or something in my blind spot. I have looked into this problem and it seems that there can be other issues that stem from this malfunction. I have owned the vehicle since 2019 where I purchased from a certified Chevrolet dealer and was not informed of this problem. This problem started to happen about 8 months ago and I reached out to where I purchased the venicle from with no response back from the salesperson I purchased thru. I don't want to continue to deal with this dealership and not get a return call from them. I have not had any other dealership look at this problem but I really need to find someone that can and will take care of this for me. …
On July 11th 2023 I finalized the purchase of a black 2014 Chevy Impala LT at Premiere Auto Solutions LLC. The beginning of the week of July 22nd I started hearing loud noises coming from back tire area. On approximately July 24th, the engine light came on for small Evaporation leak code. Returned back to Premiere Auto and spoke with worker\dealer about situation with the car. Was told by this person after a test drive with him that the back tire noises are normal due to the braking system, and he cleared the engine code from dash panel. Within the next week, back tire noise got worse and engine light came back on along with message to service front camera\side detection system. Car diagnosed by two mechanics for replacement of back rotors\brakes and Evaporation purge valve. Attempted to contact Premiere Auto to no avail. …
