What owners report

I've had the Blazer for one year and the fuses keep blowing taking out all dash information.I've had it in the shop three different occasions so far and the mechanic can't pin point the problem..(in other words they like to make you look as if your lying)my warranty does cover for them to look at it.but its time off work and inconvenience that it is causing that doesn't seem to matter to them..cheverolet don't want to work out anything to resolve this matter..

2002 Blazer · Electrical · 14,000 miles · Jun 2003

Not long after I purchased my 2002 Blazer, I started noticing that at random times the motor would start racing when I started the engine. It ran very loud for a period of time and then would finally slow down. While driving the vehicle this would also happen. The rpms rapidly increase when accelerating, and it would make a loud roaring noise, but the vehicle doesn't go any faster. I took it in to the shop and was told this was normal, that it was the clutch fan. It is extremely hard to believe that this is normal for a new vehicle. I have had the Blazer since April of 2002 and it continues to do this and has sometimes put me in very unsafe positions. This problem seems to me to be more of a transmission problem than a fan. I have also had problems with the fuel gauge. It will show empty when it has plenty of gas. …

The gas pedal hangs up on the floor carpet (the wear strip integrated into the carpet that is under the gas pedal and wraps up along the side of the transmission tunnel) when the gas pedal is pressed all the way to the floor. The shaft that the gas pedal is attached to has part of it sticking out past the gas pedal and has a sharp edge that snags the edge of the wear strip. The carpet is not worn, it is in great shape, and is only getting damaged when the gas pedal snags the carpet wear strip. It has happened about a dozen times in the past 5 years. I contacted Chevrolet dealer and they never got back to me five years ago. In April 2010, it happened on a city street when I hit the gas to take evasive action to get away from another car that almost hit me in the side and the gas pedal stuck and I almost hit another car and a building. …

I am pregnant and very scared to drive this vehicle again. I was told by rick, service manager, toni hall at flow Chevrolet a year ago that this 4x2 and 4x4 wheel drive was corrected while under warranty. They refused to fix the major problem and changed out a switch. During this whole year I haven't been able to drive comfortablly. Now they have had to replace the whole front end. A brand new car now with only 39,000 miles. The noise is terrifying and I've been insulted by GM with a loyalty incentive for $700 to take off on a new vehicle. No one can asure me that I will be safe, even after they told me it was fixed a year ago. I'm scared to drive it. I will leave it at their place until they can get me a safe car to drive.

2001 Blazer · 31,000 miles · Jan 2004

The handle that allows you to recline the seat broke off flushed with the seat, this happened to both the driver and passenger seats in June 2005. The hood will not pop up when the lever was pulled until one banged on the grill or the hood in certain spots, which just started in March of 2007. The gas mileage dropped from 20 mpg to 16 mpg within 6 months. The back glass stuck and was hard to open, started in 2006. When turning on the air conditioner (A/C ) the car had no power, I have to turn it off when accelerating on the interstate or on hills. If the cruise control was set it kicked off when the A/C was on. When I needed to stop quickly the brakes failed, and felt a grinding sensation through the pedal, but the mechanic changed the brakes and checked the rotors, but hasn't found any problem. Suspected a defect somewhere in the brake system\ as of 2005. …

I was notified by another driver I had no brake lights, brought back to dealer and informed that it would cost $400 to fix. Found out through my employer there had been a recall for this problem. Why was it not corrected before I purchased it from the Chevy dealer. Also informed my airbag warning light was on and the a module was at fault and would cost another $550 to fix and that it May inflate airbag while driving. These are totally unrealistic problems to occur in a 2 year old model with less then 40,000 mi.

I had to have the driveshaft in my 1999 Chevy Blazer replaced in March 2011. Exactly one week later my son was driving to school cayuga-onondaga boces in aurban when the drive shaft fell out causing the Blazer entire rear-end to seize up throwing the vehicle almost making my son go down over the bridge. The school came and towed him back and looked at it' the bolt that holds the driveshaft in was not there, as if they forgot to tighten it or forget to put it on all together. There is no evidence that the bolt was pulled off or broken, you can clearly see by the treads. I had the trained auto mechanics at the school call over to pullen's and they were rude, said they did their job and there was nothing to do to help us.. Very rude' also, the driveshaft didn't have any grease fittings so it wouldn't have lasted 6 months top. …

While driving down the road approaching a stop light my wife tried to stop and the brakes just made that ABS buzzing noise and was not stopping. This was caused by the wheel bearing ABS sensor being bad not the wheel bearing itself this should not be able to happen as it is a danger/accident waiting to happen!
