While driving at 62 MPH vehicle stalled. This caused loss of steering and brakes. Consumer took the vehicle o the dealership several times over the course of a year. The dealer replaced different parts yet the problem recurred. The coolant level light had a poor connection which caused the then it is moist or damp outside the vehicle sputters and stalls. Coolant light to illuminate. Sometimes the door locks would unlock once the vehicle was placed in park, sometimes they didn't. The vehicles heated seat shut off after about five minutes or sometimes they didn't work at all. The information center would reset itself sometimes. The dealer replaced the instrument panel cluster. The exterior driver's side mirror was cloudy which caused poor visibility. The dealer replaced the entire mirror.
Consumer was traveling on the highway and suddenley vehicle accelerated and took off in traffic, consumer had both feet on the brakes, the vehicle did not respond appropriately for brakes, vehicle was out of control. Consumer states that the drivers seat heater is inoperative, driver and passenger front seat belt buckles were out of position, and the passenger side plastic retainer was broke, while pulling into a parking space consumer lost all power steering, dealer replaced rack and pinion, engine is making a knocking noise, while accelerating vehicle started in third gear, which the gears seem to lock up internally, vehicle starts vibrating at approximately 50 MPH, the right center dash A/C vent closes by it self, the night vision lens is cracked and the console holder and latch broke.
Rolled down front passenger window using the driver button and was down for about a minute and then as I tried to bring it back up with the same button the window came up and then slammed down inside the window. The plastic guides broke inside and had to replace. The following week, the rear driver side window did the same thing. Today, my wife got the car washed and the attendant was unable to get the passenger rear window up without using his hands to help pull it back up. I'm hoping I'm not having to replace that one soon. It looks like others have been having the same problem. I believe there should have been a recall on this part! We are on our way to palm springs and I hope this doesn't happen while we are on vacation!!!!
All four window regulators went out within one year. The repair costs ranged from $487 to $587 each. I researched the parts but because everything is housed in one part for this model it was impossible to find something affordable. The labor was $75. Any number of consequences could occur from the distraction to the driver when the loud pop occurs, from what might enter through the window while driving, or from an accident that May require exiting the vehicle through a window. Only a fool would replace with an old part since these parts do not last that long and cost so much.
Dt*: the contact stated the cable mechanism that rolled the power windows up and down failed seven times. On 5-14-01, the driver's and passenger side front power window cables were replaced. On 7-10-03, the driver's side front was replaced. On 9-23-05, the passenger side front was replaced. In May 2006, the passenger side rear was replaced. On 8-22-06, the driver's side rear failed . On 8-28-06, the driver's side front failed again. The dealership was aware and informed the contact the cables were weak and wore out prematurely. Updated 11/21/06.
Tl contact owns a 2000 Cadillac Deville. When the contact removes his foot from the accelerator pedal, the vehicle continues to accelerate on its own. The failure also occurs when idling at a red light or stop sign. The ABS traction light illuminates. The vehicle has been inspected by a mechanic. In addition, three of the window regulators failed within a week of each other. Currently, all four windows fail to go up and down properly. The current mileage was 88,627 and failure mileage was 70,000. Remailed 11/14/08.
Dt: windows fall down without warning. In all weather conditions had problem fixed on two windows, both front windows. The last one was the passenger side rear. It has not been fixed yet. Dealer and manufacturer said they will not fix window for free. Caller maintained problem affected the door; the passenger side rear door will not open. Caller felt children were in danger.
Driver side power window failed in the down (open) position during heavy rain. A very fragile plastic connector failed where connected to a cable. The service man commented that this is a very frequent failure on this car. Window came down while on the highway at 70 MPH. Causing my coffee to spill on the interior and myself. Cadillac dealer repair cost for window is $550.00.
Tl contact's spouse owns a 2000 Cadillac Deville. On three separate occasions, the rear passenger, front passenger, and front driver's side windows fell down into the door. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and they replaced the window regulator. The VIN was unknown. The current mileage was 26,000 and failure mileage was 8,000.
Window in front door and other doors jump off track and drop down. If hale storm, or heavy rain this could impair drivers ability to operate safely. Cadillac has many complaints due to this after I investigated it. I have 2 doors at present with windows broke. Please advise what I can do and expect GMC to do.
