Brand new vehicle that I brought home 18 days ago. Went to start car this morning and it had zero power. The FOB didn't work so I couldn't get into my car. Tow Truck Driver jump started car successfully. Fortunately, I instructed the driver to take it to the dealership anyway because there was no reason for the new vehicle to have a dead battery. I had left the car running and returned to it after chatting with driver. At some point a warning message appeared on the display reading "Stop Safely. 12V Battery Critical Charging Fault." If I had driven off after the car was jump started -- as I have always done before -- the vehicle could have gone into a serious fail mode that would have endangered me and those around me. Prior to this event, I had a few minor electrical glitches that I ignored because I thought they were either user error or my imagination. …
What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? -The backup camera system fails to respond intermittently. Often times the screen will remain black for several seconds while backing up before the screen shows any picture. Other times it will come on, and then flash to black while you are backing up. This is a major hazard should a child run/walk behind a car, when this occurs. I'm hoping others have expressed this problem so action can be taking. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? -Since Backup cameras are a federal requirement since 5/2018. The Failure to function on these new cars I find to be unacceptable. Even more so given that Volvo is supposed to be a brand dedicated to safety. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? …
After a software update to the infotainment system (Android Automotive OS version 5.1.17, installed on 06/03/2026), my 2022 Volvo XC60 B5 intermittently loses all audio output. When the failure occurs, the vehicle produces no sound of any kind: no audible rear parking/proximity sensor warning while in reverse, no turn-signal indicator tones, and no media audio. The rear-view camera image still displays normally, so the loss of the audible backup warning is not obvious to the driver - the parking-assist system appears functional while its audible warnings are in fact disabled. On multiple occasions the failure was already present as I backed out of my garage and began driving, leaving me with no audible obstacle warning while reversing and no turn-signal tones while maneuvering. …
I purchased the car in April 2022. Did not have any issues until February 2023. Initially, the engine light came on with a turtle icon in the dash screen. I was driving and the car would not go over 45 mph. on a busy street . The car was hesitating badly and also said something about the propulsion? Volvo Ontario towed it from my business and supposedly fixed it. Fast forward the following week, engine light came. Back to dealer, who said the software at that time was not available and it was a recall. A few days later they said they were disconnecting the engine light until new update was available. Back to dealer with update now installed, supposedly this would fix all the engine issues. A few days later, 3/7 I got into car and started it . This mesage came on, "Slow down, the vehicle will reduce speed. …
Re: Demand for repurchase or replacement under warranty - VIN [redacted] Vehicle: 2022 Volvo XC60 (pre certified) Purchase date: 08/19/2024 Dealer: [Dealer name, [redacted] ] Dear Volvo Cars USA Customer Care: I am the owner of the above-referenced vehicle. Since the date of purchase (08/19/2024) the vehicle's infotainment system has repeatedly failed: it shuts down and reboots frequently (as often as 10 times within one hour of normal driving). Each shutdown disables navigation, HVAC controls and Bluetooth, and on reboot I must reset settings. This defect creates a significant safety hazard while driving, especially in unfamiliar areas. Since purchase I have returned the vehicle to the dealer for diagnosis and repair on multiple occasions. The vehicle has received software updates approximately 3-4 times, most recently on05//05/2026. The problem persists. …
I had only had my car for approximately 2 weeks and had to have it towed to the dealership due to an electrical problem that caused my car to act like it was running out of gas. The dealership had my car for about 3 days and it was an computer problem with the batteries not communicating between systems so they had to order a new module and reset the computer. Another 3 weeks later my parking alert sensors started going off and wouldn't go off they just stayed on once again took to dealership and it was a computer problem. Both issues was fixed but was told don't be surprised if happens again might happen until Volvo gets the whole company program updates and if it does happen just bring it back to the dealership and have computer reset. …
4 months old 2022 Volvo XC60 software bug that drained all batteries on board caused the vehicle to not to start, stuck in park, it was impossible disengage parking brake or put the car in neutral. Without any warning or battery low or battery empty indicator, the vehicle failed to start. We were put at risk by a car that can fail without warning and not start at all as we were stranded at a remote location. When the car failed to start, it could only be moved by a flat-bed tow truck, as it was impossible to put the car into neutral and it would not roll. The Volvo dealer confirmed that the vehicle failed to start because of a software bug. …
