I had just merged into the right lane and was preparing to merge left. I looked over my shoulder to check the adjacent lane. At that moment, the vehicle suddenly accelerated forward without my input. I attempted to steer left to avoid the vehicle in front of me, but there was no time or braking response. The car continued to surge forward and the right-front quarter of my Taos struck the rear-left corner of the vehicle ahead. The Automatic Emergency Braking system did not activate at any point, despite a clear forward-collision situation. …

I purchased this car new less than 18 months ago and have been problems with it ever since. Brakes wear down prematurely and cause metal contact to rotors that causes bad screeching, stutters and affects my braking distance. I work for drive-share platforms as well as work as a personal driver for children in Ventura County and become more and more worried about the safety of my passengers as well as myself. I've taken my vehicle to the dealership multiple times and they keep repeating that everything is normal over and over again or that they fix whatever issue that they find but my car is still not fixed. This has been going on for over a year, they don't offer any help and they seem to ignore my concerns and I am very unsatisfied with Ventura Volkswagon and their customer service. …

UNKNOWN The vehicle lost all functionality and did not respond to any commands/requests made by the driver until railroad tracks caused the vehicle to stop and all side airbags to deploy. My girlfriend and myself were at fear for our lives as google maps was attempting to take us unto a bridge when the vehicle became unresponsive while driving. Consequently, we had to choose hard soil as the brakes and steering would not react to any of the drivers commands. I received a parcel of mail about the recall 2 days after the accident in the mail. The problem has not been confirmed by a manufacturer, the police, insurance reps or any others as Progressive auto insurance has still not been to the car to investigate since being at the body shop on May 30th, 2023 when this accident occurred and the insurance claim was made. Progressive keeps telling me to be patient when I call for an update. …
