Panoramic sunroof drains leaked water into passenger compartment down the A pillar on the drivers side. Leak was intense and occurred during rain, even light rain or mist. Material covering the A pillar was soaked through, and water droplets were dripping from the pillar onto the driver and dashboard. Water soaked the gauge cluster electronics and airbag contained within the A pillar. The electronics continued to operate, and water did not immediately cause them to malfunction. No warning lights illuminated. The windshield would become foggy any time there was moisture outside and visibility was severely reduced even when using the defroster. This occurred for the entire length I owned the vehicle, even after multiple drain cleanings at a dealer/ technician, and inspections at a Volkswagen dealer. …
Tl* the contact owns a 2017 Volkswagen Golf. The contact took the vehicle to ganley bedford imports (250 broadway ave, bedford, oh 44146) where it was diagnosed with a sun roof drainage pipe failure which resulted in damages to the wires and connectors from the water leaking into the vehicle. The wires and connectors were replaced, however the failure recurred. The contact stated that the electrical components were not operating as designed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact to take the vehicle back to the dealer for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 32,951.
The driver's side window regulator recently failed on my 2002 vw Golf. This part secures the window to the power window mechanism, and keeps the window up. The failure occurred while I was leaving a toll booth. I pressed the button to raise the window, heard a crack, and then the entire window violently crashed down into the interior of the door, and attempts to raise the window failed. I was lucky that I was only driving about 20 MPH at the time, but unfortunately I had to drive home five hours with the windows down. It was a very unpleasant experience. When I returned home, upon bringing the car in to the dealership, I learned that it was the window regulator that had failed. I also learned that this part has failed numerous times on golfs of this model year (and other years), and that an extended warranty of 7 years was placed on the part. …
While driving my wife was driving our 2002 vw Golf the driver side window dropped. Turns out all over the internet there are complaints of the tabs holding the windows breaking. In fact when I was at the dealer I fellow overheard me and said he had the exact same problem on his 2001 vw gti. Vw had a TSB and extended the warranty by a few years on this but is should have been a recall. A window dropping is a huge safety factor for a number of reasons. The window is a protection device to shield you in an accident or from debris at 65mph and for your own personal safety if on the wrong side of town. I called the vw dealer to see if they would fix this problem they said yes they would fix it for free yet upon arriving I was told I was one month out of the extended warranty. …
A plastic burning smell in cabin was noted at highway speed. Upon exiting the highway, smoke was seen coming from the HVAC control panel. Recirculation fan was switched from high speed setting to off. The smoke continued to intensify, until all dc power was removed from the car. Maintenance found the HVAC controller, rotatory fan speed switch to have melted in the off position due to the heat of the electrical arching in side the switch. Damaged limited to the HVAC control panel p/n 1j0 820 045f manufactured by valeo.
My rear passenger widow will not roll down because of a faulty window regulator. Vw knows the problem exists because they have to replace the front window regulators that have a similar desing using plastic window clips. I have children that travel in the car frequently and if we were in an accident they would not be able to roll the window down and get out of the car. I feel that this is a safety concern. I realize that the gti version of my car doesn't have windows that roll down in the back but I didn't buy that car because I have kids that need to ride in the car. Therefore I need windows that roll down too. I took the car to a vw dealer because they told me that they would fix it under the extended service thing that the front window are fixxed under. After they took the car, they called me and told me that it doesn't cover the rear windows. …
1. Passenger front window drops down in door. Has happened twice. There were four other people at the dealer for the same problem at the same time I was there. I was told it was an "arizona" problem and that the part that holds the window up melts and breaks. I was driving down the highway when my window fell down causing me to become distracted by the incident and nearly causing an accident. 2. Air bag light went on for no reason. Cost tom me was $618 to replace a faulty airbag and wiring harness. I believe that should be covered even out of warranty since there is nothing I could have possibly done to cause the airbag to become defective. 3. Cruise control disengages when the right turn signal is applied. This happened for months unti the cruise control went out completely. I have heard this failure is due to a ribbon cable which gets broken in the steering column. …
While driving my 2000 vw Golf, with 78000 miles, I squirted my windshield with fluid to clear it, and the wipers, instead of the usual 2-wipe cycle slowed down, struggled and then, without warning, ceased to operate, stopping halfway on the upswing. I was unable to physically move the wiper back to rest position. Luckily, it was not raining and I was driving on a city road where I could pull over safely to the curb. I did drive the car home that day, as it was clear, but was unable to use the car for the next few days, as rain threatened, and obviously I could not afford to be driving in even a light rain as the front wipers were non-operational. I had the wipers repaired at minuteman vw, bedford ma, on September 14. They found that the wiper linkage on the passenger side was completely in a bind and were physically unable to move it, while the driver's side moved freely. …
