The contact owns a 2006 Toyota Sienna equipped Hercules Tires, Tire Line: Roadtour 855 SPE, Tire Size: 215/65/R16, DOT Number: U96VH260H21. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH during a trip, the steering wheel started shuddering. The vehicle was taken to a tire shop, and the contact was informed that the two front tires had sustained tread belt separation and bulges. The two front tires were replaced. Additionally, the contact stated while driving 65-70 MPH, the TPMS warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the tire shop, and the contact was informed that the rear passenger's side tire had sustained tread belt separation, and the metallic belt was poking through the rubber. The contact requested that the rear tires be replaced as a precautionary measure. The rear tires were replaced. All four tires were replacement tires. …
The TPMS system failed in the ECM or engine computer. It uses the wheel speed sensors on each hub to measure differences in wheel speed and uses this to infer if any one wheel has low tire pressure. (This vehicle does not have TPMS sensors in the wheels.) However, with this failure, it reports a tire pressure problem even though all 4 tires are inflated properly. This problem persists even after cleaning then replacing wheel speed sensors. The problem appears to be in the ECM or engine computer, which is very difficult and expensive to replace. With this problem, the driver is never able to tell if any tire actually has low pressure because the system always reports that a tire has low pressure. Toyota should be required to fix this issue in all affected vehicles.
All four alloy wheels on this vehicle have the paint bubbling and chipping off leaving the wheel exterior exposed to weather and further corrosion. Underneath the chipped paint the alloy is corroding, potentially compromising the strength and overall integraty of the wheels. I have experienced air loss in both front tires over the course of just a few days. My local tire shop checked both front tires for punctures but found nothing. They then removed the tires from the rims and indicated the rims had corroded around the outer diameter of the rim where the tire bead is supposed to seal. They cleaned the corrosion from the rim interior and applied a bead sealing compound that fills in the corroded and pitted bead area of the rim allowing the tire bead to seal and hold air. …
Have an 2006 Toyota Sienna with 17" factory original alloy aluminum wheels and all 4 wheels have their protective coatings bubbling up from underneath and peeling off. Even though the van is nearly 9 years old now, it only has 72000 miles on it. But even so, it has had the bubbling up coating issue for 4 or 5 years already according to the last owner I bought it from. Looks to be a common problem with Toyota siennas with the 17" alloy wheels in the area here in the upper midwest as most I've seen have the same problem. Concerned that the now exposed metal will corrode quickly and then at some point develop into a safety concern. This van is a heavy vehicle compared to regular cars on the road so I would think problems would arise quickly if there were a weakness to develop in the corroding metals. I'm currently experiencing air loss in only 1 tire/wheel. …
Purchased 4 new cs5 grand touring tires that have 80,000 mile "wear out" warranty on January 26, 2016. Miles = 174295. In April 2018, 1 year 4 months later, miles now at 215089 (40K put on, so should have another 40K more) my vehicle would shake, not hold air, I even had problems with air going into through the valve, my vehicle failed an alignment check by an authorized Toyota dealership. Tire tread depth front driver: 4 6 5 5 tire tread depth front pass: 5 6 6 5 tire tread depth rear driver 6 8 8 7 tired tread depth read pass: 6 7 7 6 obviously not going to get another 40K miles out of these tires. In addition the wear on them is inconsistent on each tire. The tire isn't wearing right. Alignment right rear camber: -1.9 -.9. I had an alignment actually two, but one close to this appointment. Take my vehicle into wear I purchased them, the fine print comes into play. …
The slip indicator light (car with swerve lines) started coming on intermittently while turning on highways etc. (but not when any risk of tire slipping). Then vsc light also came on and alarm sometimes sounded. Visit to our own mechanic, no problems found. In the last 2 years the ABS system has activated (daily) it unexpectedly applies the brakes while in motion. It is on specific types of curve and while driving at least 30mph, but has done at 35, 55, 70 MPH, on slight or medium turns (not real sharp turns), going uphill or downhill and left or right. Took my mechanic for a ride with the diagnostic computer hooked up, it did the ABS braking, warning light, and beeping 5 times but computer showed no codes. Suggested resetting yaw which we did, it did not help. …
I was sent a recall notice by Toyota, indicating that the "spare tire assembly May corrode and detach". I took my vehicle to the dealer on December 19, 2014, and they removed the spare tire and placed it in the vehicle in a plastic bag. They did not fix it properly. The spare tire is now occupying a lot of space that I need for cargo. They told me I would receive a letter when the proper remedy was available. I called Toyota this morning (May 21, 2015) after waiting five months for the letter. The Toyota representative that I spoke with said that the parts would become available for the remedy "in the middle of this year" but she could not even give me the month in which this would happen. I think it is too much to have to carry my spare tire around in my cargo space for several months. Toyota should have been able to solve this problem faster. This is not the vehicle's drive train. …
I bought a set of 4 douglas all-season 215/65r16 98t sl tires at walmart. After less than 4 months/600 miles of use, 3 of the tires were diagnosed as separating inside. This is a very dangerous problem that could have cost us our lives. These tires must be recalled. This is unacceptable. If your vehicle shakes at a moderate speed (between 25-40mph) and you have these tires then you should get them replaced immediately. It is not the balance (I had them balanced twice) or the alignment, it is a defect in these particular tires.
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 Toyota Sienna. Whenever the contact parked the vehicle and attempted to turn it off, the key would fall out of the ignition. The contact stated that the vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign numbers: 17V657000 (power train) and 14V273000 (tires). There were no warning indicators illuminated. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 177,000.
Check engine light, vsc light, traction control light. All 3 lights came on at same time. They say it's the gas cap, it's not the gas cap, they say to reset it, that doesn't work. I was driving home, nothing happened, the lights just came on. No warning sound, nothing to indicate there was a problem, my car seems to drive just fine, but the lights won't go off, and I have 3 kids that I take and pick up from school
