P225/60R17 98T: Tires create vibrations in the steering column. One tire in particular creates severe vibrations that mechanic states could lead to problems with the steering components. Mechanic http://www.japaneseautorepair.org/ e-mail [email] (John). Coordinated w/ Sandy Boulevard Line up shop and one tire could not be aligned due to defect. 2004 Sienna van (140,900 odometer miles) is equipped with Toyo Observe GSi-5 195/65R15 91T (separate 16" rims purchased from Les Schwab) and there is no vibration at all. Les Schwab last tried to "balance" the defective tire in 2019. I have about the 4rth appointment Aug 21 2021 @ 9AM. I will also take the 2004 Sienna van to Japanese Auto repair (web site and e-mail above). to look for any defects. I probably need to put the Winter Observe GSi-5 tires on the car for safety, but they wear out quickly on summer hot roads.
I had the control arms replaced, then one of the bolts came out after a few thousand miles. I had that bolt replaced and the problem started happening intermittently after that. Everything will be functioning fine and then the speed of my vehicle is inhibited and it is hard to accelerate. It is very difficult to get from 40 MPH up to 50 MPH. On slight curves, not always, it will beep and the slip indicator light comes on and will apply the brakes on what feels like one side. This has happened at 35-60 MPH. The slip indicator will beep sometimes until I decrease my speed to under 25 MPH. I took it into a reputable tire and front end shop and they replaced a wheel bearing with sensor, and 2 front tires. The problem happened again within 5 miles and the shop said I need to take it to Toyota dealer to have it the steering angle sensors recalibrated. …
Campaign 14V273000 (spare tire cable corrosion) was initiated in May 2014. It's now a year later and there is no permanent fix, nor has Toyota even provided a date when there will be a permanent fix. The interim fix I have been living with for the past year was to remove the spare tire from under my minivan and put it in the passenger compartment. Toyota has gone way too long without providing a fix. But what troubles me today is that when I look up my VIN ([redacted]) in Toyota's database and in yours (safercar.gov), the response is no open recalls. How can this be? "no open recalls," yet the problem still exists. I wonder if anyone is working on it. …
On June 17, 2016, I got into my 2004 Toyota Sienna xle-ims rampvan (joint Toyota-ims, floor-lowered wheelchair van conversion with ramp). There was debris on the back seat (what in a non-ims Sienna be the third-row seat). I saw tire belts sticking up from the tread of the spare tire. The tire had exploded and deflated, strewing debris from the ruptured tire belts and tread on the back seat. Note that in the ims version of the Sienna, the spare tire is mounted on a bracket behind the back seat. Thankfully, no one had been in the van at time of explosion. The rupture of the tire could have been behind the head or neck of a passenger sitting in the left-rear position. The exploded spare tire is a Firestone radial tempa spare, t155/80r17 101m. It is the original spare tire and was inflated to the specified 60 psi. I still have the exploded tire, which I had dismounted and replaced. …
The following is an email we sent to Toyota. We believe Toyota has failed to remedy the defect within a reasonable time. Request your help to resolve the issue. Thank you, email: "12/12/14 we had the temporary remedy for the 2004 Sienna spare tire recall (#e1s) done at your dealership October 2, 2014. We were told that we couldn't leave the dealership with the spare tire in its current location under the car. Subsequently, the spare tire cable was cut and the spare tire put in the trunk. We were told this was a temporary remedy and that Toyota would have a solution by December 2014. We want to know when the permanent solution will be available. Please keep us updated as to the status of this recall so the inconvenience of the spare tire taking up space in the trunk and the inability to stow the back seat can be resolved. …
I own Toyota Sienna 2004. I was driving from connecticut to washington dc. The front left tyre of the car bursted in maryland & it hit the left divider on I-95 . The mileage of the car at the time of accident was 2963. I called up dealer saying how can a tyre burst when it is a new car ? He said we cannot say anything until we see the damaged tyre. I haven't shown the tyre to dealer yet as I haven't taken the car back to connecticut. Kindly advise how to report this kind of incident . I tried contacting www.NHTSA.gov using email [email] sometimes in April,2005. The replaced tire is lf tire mich energy lx4 p2156516 96t. I have received a notice from Toyota about special service campaign for excessive corrosion of the spare tire carrier cable. Since that part has already failed on my car I had it replaced and followed Toyota process to recover cost of that repair. I have provided required documentation ( certified mail) and then again additional documentation (certified mail) requested by Toyota. I have received a letter that my case has been closed because Toyota did not receive required documentation. Since then I have not received any responses to my subsequent letter or compensation for the reaiur cost.
While my vehicle is in motion on city streets and highways at speeds between 35 and 55 MPH, on a straightaway and curve, the stability control light/and alarm comes on randomly. Sometimes it's just the alarm that sounds, and sometimes the alarm sounds and the brakes activate and the minivan swerves. Was the most frightening and dangerous experience ever with my young grandchildren riding with me. I actually had to pull over to the side of the road to calm myself. This has now happened on several occasions with today (7-24-19) being the latest experience.
