Vehicle steering began to shake violently intermittently, I pulled off the highway and began to inspect front wheels. I saw fire on left side of engine through the wheel well. I extinguished fire with hand extinguisher. Fire department inspected and saw no danger to move vehicle. Vehicle was towed. Inspection by dealer was inconclusive. (!) I would not trust it to drive. I brought vehicle into company shop and inspected myself and found starter wire routed between brackets on engine/cross member. The cable was burned/ shorted and the cause of fire and electric steering malfunction. Any further use would certainly cause another incident. Vehicle was returned to dealer for replacement of harness. Dealer stated no recalls or known issues related to this. Inspected another vehicle of same type and wire is similar routing. Vehicle showed no symptoms prior to and no codes set after incident. …

The vehicle steering was acting odd several times prior to the accident on the morning of October 28th 2024 when I was driving 55-60 mph on a highway I was going around a sweeping curve to the right when my truck veered across the center lane and I tried to pull the vehicle back into my lane which ultimately didn't happen and I collided into the rear door of 4 door sedan. No one was hurt but, I could have been killed from the head on collision and nobody is willing help me or I don't know who to talk to. Insurance totaled my truck, I lost 15k in equity and I have nightmares about this accident. There was a dump truck directly behind the vehicle I collided with, if the timing was slightly different, I probably wouldn't be here right now and nobody seems to care about that. …
