Brake lights are illuminating when accelerating (when brake pedal is NOT depressed) and are NOT illuminating when actually braking (when brake pedal IS depressed). I found GM recalls for this, but they are not attributed to my car, hence the recall that took place for this was not wide enough / did not cover all vehicles affected. (Recall 80317) (A poor electrical connection at the brake light switch could result in various electrical issues, one of which would be the brake lights failing to work, increasing the risk of a crash. GM IS RECALLING 8,012 MY 2005-2006 PONTIAC G6 VEHICLES. THE BRAKE LAMPS MAY NOT OPERATE PROPERLY BECAUSE OF CORROSION IN A WIRING CONNECTOR. CORROSION IN THE CONNECTOR COULD CAUSE THE BRAKE LAMPS TO ILLUMINATE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL HAS NOT BEEN DEPRESSED, OR THE LAMPS MAY NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED. …

I have had to get 3 new keys made for this car due to the security light coming on, sometimes it will not crank or start, so I have replaced the starter twice, have replaced relays and fuses, and the security light will come on while drive down the road and all gauges drop to zero, even the gas light says empty and every light on the dash comes on. But the car will still drive. But once you turn it off it will not start for a few hours! It's impossible to find parts for Pontiac anymore so everything has to be ordered! This should've been recalled a long time ago!
Tl* the contact owned a 2006 Pontiac G6. While driving at various speeds, when attempting to make a left or right turn, an abnormal noise emitted from the steering wheel. Pulled into grocery store gentleman came over to me and said something is wrong with either my taillights or brake lights, they disappear when stepping on brake. Then on jan. 13th, rec'd phone call from sheriff's dept. Someone turned in my plate number so they could inform me my tail lights or bake lights are not working. Took the car in and it couldn't be worked on that next day. Anyway I did have some recalls, and when parts available took to the dealer and all 3 recalls were supposedly fixed. One recall I know was regarding something with rear lighting. Had no problems and no complaints before took it in for service. All I know is the two good citizens were worried about me getting rear ended because of this problem. And I am driving around in an unsafe vehicle because the dealer can't fit me in until wed. The jan 21, and it might be a problem they didn't fix and got paid for. …
Re: Pontiac 2006 -G6 gt elect. System, elect. Stability control, exterior lighting, service brakes, hydraulic, vehicle speed control --- this car was recalled for above problems in 2014. At that time I brought car to dealer to be fixed, although the car was not in need of repair because no problems had existed, dealer stated he fixed all recall problems at that time. Now two years later I am experiencing all the listed problems above. I took car to mechanic where he did replace parts but still experiencing problem. It must go back to dealer so problem can be alleviated. Brake lights do not go on when braking also when applying gas they sometimes go on. Cruise control is also not working. What's to say that this problem was never fixed in 2014 when the car was recalled due to the fact that I wasn't having any issues at that time. …
Recall 13036 including special coverage 16188 did not fix my vehicle. My vehicle has the following problems... -service brake lamps illuminate when the service brakes are not being applied -service brake lamps will not illuminate when the service brakes are applied -cruise control will not engage (the above conditions have happened when the car is in motion, stationary, on streets, highways, turning and braking.) -vehicle will shift out of park without the service brakes being applied these above conditions are the exact conditions that recall 13036 was to have fixed. The dealership addressed this recall earlier this year, and the vehicle is still having problems. I cannot get my vehicle back from the dealership because it is a violation of federal law to deliver the vehicle to me until the defect is remedied. Service technician says the BCM (body control module) needs replaced. …
I had the recalls all fixed as soon as I was aware of them. A few months later my brake lights started flashing as I was driving. I took it to a dealer and $300 later it was fixed. They said I had to pay since the recall had already been taken care of. A few months later and here I am again with the airbag reporting problems as working and not working. Also now my brake lights are staying on as I am driving and turning off for a few seconds when I tap the brake. As I am stopped the brake lights are not turning on unless I forcefully hold the pedal down. I know when I take it into the dealer that it is going to be the same thing, lots of money for a temporary fix that all extend from the "fixed" recall. I also had a new brake control sensor put in, but it made no difference. This is causing a dangerous condition and since it is my car, I don't know what I am suppose to do here. …
For the past 2 years, my headlights have barely been working. Ever since I've gotten my car I've had issues with them and have had them replaced plus wiring redone more than 3 times. Each time my low beams go out. It started with one working and one not, and quickly LED to both going on. They will not work. I've looked it up and have seen many people having issues with this, along with my friends mom having the same exact car, different year mind you but the same exact problem. I've looked up my VIN for any possible recalls and can't come across one, even though I've seen this has been a big issue for GM. My inspection is coming up and I don't know what to do about my lights, as they won't work no matter how much I fix them. My high beams do so I've been having to drive with them. I'm making a complaint because I'm not sure what else to do about this problem. …
Takata recall first noticed problem January 2012. I had to press on brake pedal really hard to shift out of park and brake pedal would make a noise when I first pushed on it. Cruise control would disengage while in use or would not work at all. Not sure if brake lights were improperly working at this time or not. Took car to GM dealership 3 times before it seemed to be fixed. Forward to October of 2015 and issue is back. The same symptoms but the only reason I discovered the brake lights constantly being on is I was at gas station and got out of my car as it was idle and in park to throw something away and noticed during the day my tail lights were on and very bright. Took it to a mechanic immediately and as I pushed on the brake pedal, my brake lights went off. The shop put in a new brake light switch and that did not fix the issue. Can.of drive the car as it is too dangerous.
