I would go into reverse and the camera would appear but then disappear as I'm backing up. No more blinking or telling me I am about to crash. Even 3D camera doesn't work. Drivetrain feels very strange since last OTA update. Making weird noises when driving. Battery sounds like it's screaming. Something is really wrong.
The manafactuer distributed a software update to correct issues regarding reverse camera settings. This update has not corrected the issue in my polestar and, in fact, has caused many other disturbances forcing me to seek service at a the closest dealership. When reversing, it will activate the emergency stop function, which has caused much anxiety and stress because not only are the parking sensors nonfunctional, but the thought of the emergency breaks being activated without threat or my regard again is distressing and misleading.
Constant camera issues. The rear camera only works half the time and when it does go it, it'll just cut off while driving in reverse. It's completely unreliable and dangerous. New update has affected the cars acceleration. Now when its below a certain degrees outside they changed it so the car can no longer accelerate at its normal speed and instead, barely responds when you hit the gas causing a multiple second delay before the car moves. It's incredibly dangerous and makes it impossible to move out of the way if needed in an emergency. Issue was reported and was told that just how it is now and there is nothing they can do about it. This is dangerous and not the vehicle I purchased.
Starting in 2022 the car started to "black out" when I drove it. The spedeometer and screen would go completely dark, especially at speeds over 60 MPH I reported this to Polestar in 2023, they incorrectly diagnosed it as a TPMS warning when I brought it to the dealer. I called Polestar back in July 2023, but a nearby dealer was 7 hours away. I brought the car into the dealer March 2024, they had it for several days, didn't detect a problem and sent me home w car. It did it again, I was able to capture this footage on video, they then took the car back again and finally believed me. They had questioned me before. They ended up replacing the IHU
The contact owns a 2022 Polestar 2. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked and turned off, the door locks became inoperable. The contact was unable to enter the vehicle without using the key fob. The contact stated that on one occasion, entry was only possible through the trunk after manually engaging the trunk latch. The contact further stated that the failure recurred, and during a subsequent incident, both the doors and the trunk latch were inoperable, preventing access to the vehicle. The contact had to wait an extended period of time before being able to enter the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 76,000.
The contact owns a 2022 Polestar Polestar 2. The contact stated that while driving approximately 25 - 30 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not yet diagnosed nor repaired. The vehicle remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 200.
Polestar has issued several software updates over the past year that have resulted in serious safety issues: A previous software recall for issues with the vehicle's backup camera has not fixed the issue. About 50% of the time, the vehicles backup camera flashes, freezes, and then fails while reversing before eventually displaying a "Backup Camera Not Available" message. The issue is that this all happens while reversing in motion, meaning it's distracting and dangerous. Similarly, the vehicle's automatic emergency rear braking engages erroneously about 20% of the time while revering. This happens when the system is slow to respond and seems to mistake shadows as objects. It has almost resulted in causing a collision twice now while I was driving. On occasion, the passenger side mirror will fail to raise from the folded position preventing the vehicle from driving safely. …
Vehicle Info: 2021 Polestar 2 74,765 mi Software version 5.0.10 About 2 weeks ago, I updated to the newest OTA update 5.0.10, which may be unrelated. 1 week ago, the normal start-up safety procedure flagged the airbag and instructed me to find a service station immediately. I scheduled an appt and I was charged $300 diagnostic fee. It's unclear if the airbags would deploy in a collision based on the fault. The service manager shared with me that there are two reasons for the issue in his experience - 1. the vehicle was in a collision and the sensors fail to lock out or 2. there is wiring under the seat that failed either at the harness or on the wire directly. #1 can be ruled out by the vehicle history report and the car was never in a collision. #2 is the only viable reason based on vehicle use. If this is the case, it's a design flaw that must be addressed by the manufacturer. …
