My vehicle plus many other multiple year and make expended base GM Mini vans are developing gasoline leaks at the top of the fuel tank due to worn plastic seal. The only repair is replacement of the fuel tank, that retails around $800. There is not a replacement tank in the united states and no parts being manufactured... My car is a low mileage vehicle in excellent shape but dangerous to drive due to leaking fuel.. Must I have to dispose of car because no parts available? Can GM start reproducing the needed part.?
AWD disable and ABS lights illuminated. Left rear wheel bearing and hub assembly failed and were replaced (four times). The EVAP solenoid, fuel sender and pump assembly were replaced. The heating element for the front driver's seat failed twice. The right rear seat belt failed. The right power sliding door actuator module failed. Rear wiper failed intermittently. A/C condenser failed. Engine failed.
Tl* the contact owns a 2001 Oldsmobile Silhouette. The contact stated that while driving, the vehicle released a strong fuel odor and the contact noticed sparks coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a local mechanic who located the failure at the fuel tank. The mechanic advised the contact that the muffler did not have a heat shield cover. This caused the failure and sparks, which core a hole in the fuel tank. The fuel tank would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure and the current mileage was 150,000.
My 2001 olds Silhouette van. Back on 08/01/08 experienced the same fuel tank failure as described in recall # 07V349000 for the 2001 Chevrolet venture van. After having the tank replaced I found out about the above recall for the same problem on the Chevy van I contacted Chevy customer service for repayment of the repair cost. I was informed this morning that since the NHTSA did not include my vehicle in the recall they were not responsible for the repair cost. My question is how can my van go down the same assembly line as the Chevy venture and other vehicles listed in the recall experience the same failure and yet not be included?

While driving vehicle, it didn't have any speed. While sitting in vehicle, vehicle exploded with flames coming from driver's side. Also, consumer stated muffler burnt hole in gas tank. Contacted dealer and dealer bought vehicle back. Consumer stated service engine light would also illuminate when the vehicle would lose power, mechanics found a hole in the muffler had burned a hole in the plastic gas tank.
The engine. The coolant low light stays on even though it isn't.. Have had it checked. They said its all OK. Then I read these complaints. Why aren't they being held responsible for a defect!!!!! Its their defect, not ours. We didn't sign up for $1200 in repairs or more!!! Are you getting paid to sit there and just put these up here to appease us? No wonder this nation is going you know where in a basket. Lack of integrity. My brakes also both went out completely when someone gave me less than a foot to stop when they pulled out of a parking spot downtown. No accident but completely blew my brake. This also seems to be a common failure point in this so called vehicle. The engine does what it wants when it wants. It moans and shudders when it takes off..kind of like me when I get up in the morning. Could kill me though. Airbag light can't decide if it alive or not. …
Dt: 1999 Oldsmobile Silhouette. On August 11, 2005 the consumer was smelling gas; he looked under the vehicle and saw that the fuel lines were rusted. The mechanic at the dealership stated the fuel lines crumbled in his hands. All of the metal fuel lines for the vehicle had to be replaced. The smell was the only indicator. He checked under the hood first then crawled under the car and saw it was leaking gas.
