Almost identical circumstances as in odi 10137234. Big o tires aligned my van in oct 2005 and discovered the tread separation. Alignment was within spec, except camber or caster on the rear were 0.02 degrees out. They referend me to the dealer. At first, over the telephone, the dealership said it was due to neglet and referred me to an authorized Goodyear dealer. Goodyear tire dealership discovered tread separation on all 4 tires on my 2004 Oldsmobile minivan on the inside edge, under the vehicle. Goodyear saw my rotation/balance records and agreed to warrant the tires. This is why all four tires were worn, due to rotaiton every 6-8K miles. They gave me prorated credit based on tread depth remaining. 50% for two and 25% for the other two credit. Mileage is at 32K. They also explained that we should not drive on them until replaced. …
Tl* the contact owns a 2004 Oldsmobile Silhouette. The vehicle was equipped with mastercraft strategy tires (n/a), tire size 225/60/16. The dot number was unavailable. While driving approximately 55 MPH, the vehicle began to vibrate excessively. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the four tires were balanced and the failure continued to occur. The tires had not been replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 112,963.
Noticed decrease in tire pressure on one tire then on all. Examination of rim showed extensive corrosion on all rims both exterior and interior. Leakage was so bad that I was filling the tires daily. Went to tire store where I purchased the tires to have them examined. Service rep said it wasn't the tires it was the corroded rims that were causing the problem. I had the rims replaced (all 4) and have not had a problem since this repair. In conversation with the store rep he commented that I wasn't the first person to come in with this problem and that he had seem ~10 vehicles with this problem over the past two months. In fact< as soon as I brought the vehicle in and explained the problem it seemed that he knew exactly what the cause was. I have kept the rims for evaluation if anyone is interested..
The front tire on the consumer's 2003 Oldsmobile Silhouette went flat suddenly. This was caused by the steel which broke and came through the rubber where the tread meets the sidewall. ** answer required*** Goodyear tires, tpc spec 1089ms, e13-0294149.
As I was checking the tires for wear I noticed that the inside of the tire, where the tread meets the sidewall, was damaged. It appears that there is a flange or disc at the bottom of the spring/shock assembly that's coming in contact with the tire. Less than 1 inch clearance. Probably happens when there's down force from hitting a pot hole, speed bump or sudden stop. Tread is good but separating from the sidewall, steel belts visible. 30,000 miles, Goodyear, p225/60r/16, I assume original equipment. Bought used at 9K, no record of rotating the tires. Rear tire has slight damage suggesting it May have been on front and rotated out. If owners are only looking at the tread and not the inside sidewall I think there's a potential for blowout and tire separation. I note 2 failures although the tires have not blown, they will need to be replaced. Will have vehicle serviced this week.
While driving on highway, the left front tire experienced a blowout at the sidewall which resulted in the tread separation. However, the sidewall remained on the rim. Tire info: Michelin 225/60r16 dot-hd3vcthx1802 10-11K miles on tire not original left front tire.
I purchased Goodyear Eagle ls tires p225/60r16 they now have 25,000 miles on them and are completely bald. Sams club measured the tread at 0/32. Sams offered me a prorated warranty of $35 per tire, I paid $73. (out the door $184 for 2)they were sold to me as a 50000 mile tire, they are under warranty and wore out at half the warranty. Isn't this a faulty tire? I can't afford new tires again and they are very dangerous for me and my children during the rainy season. I tried to email Goodyear but the link does not work. Hummm, I bet they know that. Other people on line said they got no where with them. Please help. Shouldn't they have to replace the tire? I see they have many loop holes. How can I get help. I see many complaints on line on this same tire wearing out too early. I don't want to have to check the box that there were deaths or injuries seen below. [redacted]
The tread/steelbelt on the Goodyear Eagle ls tires installed as OEM on my 2001 Chrysler minivan (purchased new sept. 2002) have separated after 13 mo./28,000 miles. The separation is worse on the front than on the back with one tire having a 12 1/2 in. Separation and numerous small splits/separations and the other having a 6 inch separation and numerous small splits/separations. The dealership responded that this was normal wear/tear which is difficult for me to believe. There are 7 other complaints regarding this tire with NHTSA, five of which are for steal belt separation. This should be investigated immediately.
