I recently purchase 2010 Mercury Mariner. There is a few errors appearing on the screen in front of the steering wheel. One of the error is "CHECK FUEL LINES." It also has an error about the tire pressure sensor. It also rides roughly, but the wheels are like new, so it feels like the suspension or shocks have something wrong with them. Also, there is a lot of play in the steering wheel when driving it. When I went to check on the recalls in the system by putting in my VIN, it shows that there are no recalls on my vehicle. However, these errors and issues are connected to the recalls for my vehicle. I am sure that these recalls have not been taken care of for this vehicle and they need to be fixed.
My vehicle has been running out of gas extremely quick. It also leaks underneath when I am pumping gas into the Mariner. I am having a loud thunking sound underneath the vehicle an when I let off the accelerator, my car slowly comes to a hault. My power steering went out one day also without warning. I can't figure the problem out except I seen a recall for the power steering module or some sort that has malfunctioned an causes the computer to erase the power steering sensor completely clean of it's existence. Please help!
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 Mercury Mariner. The contact stated that he could smell a strong, abnormal gas odor upon exiting the vehicle. The contact stated that the odor was the strongest when the gas tank was full. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who informed him that there was a leak at the top of the fuel tank. He was informed that the fuel tank needed to replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed him that the VIN was not under recall. A dealer was not notified of the failure. The manufacturer referred the contact to NHTSA for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 154,000.
On 1/1/2016 I was driving on 495 w in queens, ny heading back to manhattan where I live. Out of nowhere the car began jerking, a wrench light on the dash panel came on (which I never saw before) and I could tell the car was decelerating. I tried hitting the accelerator again, the car would jerk, the engine was revving but was barely moving. I knew I had to pull over and luckily I was able to navigate to the shoulder of the road. This was an extremely dangerous situation. I am a confident driver, however, a less confident or timid driver most likely would have panicked and gotten into a potentially serious collision.
Tl* the contact owns a 2008 Mercury Mariner. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced overheating and a loss of power independently. The check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed or repaired. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 14V526000 (hybrid propulsion system); however, the contact was unable to get the remedy due to no certified Ford dealers in the city. The manufacturer was notified and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 102,000.
The vehicle will stall when it comes to a stop, mid turn, slowing down, and sometimes accelerating. Several websites show 100's of complaints from people with the same issue. It is a May safety concern because it dies at any point while driving.
