What 2014 Lincoln MKX owners say

Brakes

In 2021 I took vehicle in for intermittent soft brakes where the pedal would suddenly sink to the floor. Dealer replaced brake booster under warranty. Issue was still intermittent and 2 months into driving after the booster was replaced I suddenly lost all brakes. Took vehicle to dealer and now I am out of warranty and they claim there is a bad Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) for the ABS system. Said there's nothing they can do and it's a separate issue even though it's the same issue they failed to correct previously. The part number is DT4Z-2C215-A. I believe this is a replacement part for the obsolete BT4Z-2C215-A. The dealer is now quoting me $2000 for the fox and said it's very common issue. Looking at other safety bulletins the year of my vehicle wasn't included and believe it was either cut off at 2010/2011's. …

Mar 2023

In 2021 had an issue with brakes failing and becoming unresponsive/difficult to press almost causing a crash. Vehicle was inspected and the dealer replaced the brake booster and a vaccum line. This didn't fix the issue. Recently had the same problem occur again where the brakes are intermittent and sometimes become soft and sink to the floor while driving. Apparently a bunch of people have been having this issue and the fix for it is to put your vehicle into reverse going 20mph and to slam on the brakes several times until the brakes become firm. Apparently there must be an issue with the ABS/HCU having a valve stick. Have seen Ford and Lincoln recall older cars up to 2010 in the past few years for DOT 3 causing corrosion to cause valve in HCU to stick. Remedy had dealer flush DOT 3 brake fluid and put DOT 4 and change HCU and master cylinder cap to say DOT 4 fluid. …

Engine & cooling

This automobile has a 3.7-liter engine manufactured by Ford Motor Company. We are the second owner of the vehicle. A dealer representative informed us the motor has an inherent defect while inspecting pinch weld failures. This engine, transversely mounted, was created whereby the chain driven water pump is located behind the front casing placing access on the passenger side of the vehicle. Water pumps have planned obsolescence and when these water pumps fail, the antifreeze drains into the engine crankcase mixing with the engine oil causing catastrophic failure of the engine within minutes of the water pump failure. This is a significant safety hazard causing the engine to seize and when at expressway driving could cause a serious accident due to the sudden loss of power and being stranded on the side of the road. …

May 2025

On Monday (labor day), I was driving and started to make a right turn when the car stalled. I was beside a gas stationed so I managed to pull in (very hard to steer) and I noticed the low oil pressure icon on. I came to a stop and pushed the start button and the car started and drove without any more problems. My husband checked the oil when I got home and it is full. While at long lewis Ford in hoover, this morning to have it checked we heard a woman describe the same scenario with her Ford. She stated it stalled about 3 or 4 times on her while driving. I feel this is a very serious issue and sounds similar to the issue one of the other automobile models had causing death and injury.

Transmission & drivetrain

I parked my vehicle on a slight incline in parking lot, when shortly thereafter, the vehicle rolled away and crashed into a gate. I had parked the vehicle, walked to the back of the vehicle and went inside to conduct my business. The fact that the roll back did not happen as I parked indicates that the car was properly parked. Being perplexed as to why my parked vehicle suddenly rolled back I then discovered that the Ford co. Had a recall on some of their Lincoln MKX 2014's. My vehicle May have been manufactured outside of their current recall period; however, this does not dictate that my vehicle did not experience the same malfunction. My situation matches exactly that which is described in their announcement consequence summary. I am confident that this situation is exactly as described in Ford recall 14s10/ campaign number 14V393000. However the Ford co. …
