The paint on my 2014 Kia Sorento (Snow White Pearl) is peeling and delaminating across multiple areas of the vehicle, including the roof and side panels. In several areas the paint has detached completely, exposing bare metal, and rust has begun forming on the roof. The condition appears to be progressively worsening and does not appear consistent with normal wear or isolated paint damage. The affected areas are available for inspection. The peeling paint may create a road or visibility hazard if pieces detach while the vehicle is in motion. In addition, the exposed metal and developing rust on the roof and upper body areas may affect long-term structural integrity over time. This appears to be a widespread issue affecting similar Kia Sorento vehicles with Snow White Pearl paint.
While driving on the road , sliding sunroof glass just cracked and shattered with loud sound. There was no prior damage to the sunroof nor any debris from the road that hit the car or the sunroof at the time of incident. My daughter was driving the car and was lucky that no she did not get any injuries as the sunroof shade was closed and all the shattered glass fall on the shade and not inside the car and on her face and the body.
Complaint no.while traveling down hwy 377 toward granbury, texas. The underside of my car burst into flames. Fortunately I was traveling at 70mph and the person who witnessed the flames behind me, ran up to my car when I stopped at a rail crossing to tell me what happen. I was lucky I was driving 70mph and if I had stopped while it was burning the car would have burned up. It looks like the plastic panels were ignited by the catalytic converter.. Complaint no.2 without any type of impact, near the rear view mirror, a crack appeared from the top edge of the windshield downward about 2.5" long. Since it is near the rear view mirror I know it appeared without any flying object hitting the windshield. Since it is in the middle of the top edge, I'm wondering if it is a stress crack and other Kia owners are experiencing the same event.
The panoramic roof fixed panel is shattered. When we returned home from church, we heard a rattling noise and opened the panel and saw the entire back panel is shattered with pieces of glass shards in the back seat. Looking at the top of the car the glass was actually separating from the frame which could not have been caused by rock, hail or anything else but faulty manufacturing. I contacted Kia grossinger dealership and was advised to bring in the car for them to look at and determine the cause. I advised them for safety reasons I would not drive the car and would be willing for them to pick it up and get a loaner. They advised this wasn't feasible. I then called Kia customer care and they have taken my claim k3444320 to address the dealership's inability to determine cause, reimburse the glass dealer through the warranty and acknowledge the defect and do a recall.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 Kia Sorento. While driving 60 MPH, the sun roof exploded without warning or impact. When the glass was shattered, the driver sustained minor cuts to the right hand and arm that did not require medical attention. The contact stated that this was the second occurrence of the failure. The contact's insurance company advised her to take the vehicle to a glass company to be repaired. The failures were not diagnosed by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000. Consumer stated the sunroof exploded for no reason at all. I did notified the headquarters of Kia and provided pictures from both instances and the person said that they won't do anything at all. This is a safety issue that this happened not once; but twice in the same vehicle.
Driving on the freeway this morning I heard a very loud noise and then my sunroof shattered. It was the back portion of the panoramic sunroof and it completely shattered. Some small glass particles fell into the car, but most of the glass stayed attached. I pulled over and called hwy patrol thinking someone must have thrown something at my car. I was not close to any other vehicles. Maybe it was already compromised by a rock chip or something?? Thank goodness my baby was not with me as her car seat is directly below the sunroof. I took it to the dealership and it will cost $2300 to fix. I am now in a rental for 4-5 days while it is repaired.
I am reporting my panoramic sunroof exploding on my 2014 Kia Sorento sxl. I was driving on a very smooth interstate high way in the morning with no traffic around me. I was traveling at 70mph and it was morning about 60 degrees. I was on the phone with my wife and heard a loud sound (sounded like a gunshot) and then it started raining down glass around me. As I stated, I was on the road and there was not another vehicle around me. Once I managed to pull over to inspect what had happened I noticed that there was most of my sunroof inside the car and the rest of the glass that remained was facing upward which I thought was odd.
