The ECU/PCU has developed a failure to control the idle air intake valve due to an unrepairable defect on the computer. IT can shut the engine down without warning while running, especially when approaching stops. IT requires the operator to try to control the issue using the accelerator pedal to override it and prevent the engine from cutting out. It can happen without warning, and de[pending on the skill level of the driver, an accident can easily result. PLUS there are NO repair parts for the ECU/PCU in the parts system, resulting in an unsafe and unmaintainable vehicle on the highways. The ECU /PCU was used one year only, so the Chrysler engineers knew they had a defect. No older Jeep used this particular unit and no younger ones used it either!
2006 Jeep Wrangler unlimited after getting fuel filled I pull out of station and it starts hesitating and then stalls in middle of street. It nearly caused an accident from car behind me I had to restart and it would stall and bog few more times then run OK. Today I fueled up and pulled out of station at a 6 lane divided road with an interstate with on and off ramps both sides so I had only 100 feet to cross three lanes to get into left turn lane for interstate as this lane goes under and at light turns left to on ramp, just to give you insight on situation, I fuel up pull out and it shuts off cars have to stop I am in middle of three lane dead in the water it starts back up and I pull up thank god a safe distance to car in front of me and it bogs down and the surges making the Jeep thrust forward had to brake hard no accident was caused but god forbid it could have please research this.

While driving on the route smoke start coming out from air / heat vents. I stopped the car, got out of opened frond hood, but was nothing there. Walked to passenger door and saw fire where passenger keeps legs. Got my paperwork from the car and by the time I run away from the car the whole thing was ball of fire.
Dt: the contact stated while driving in tall grass the vehicle caught on fire. Upon inspection the exhaust headers were observed hanging down too low. As a mechanic, the contact recommended that a protective plate be install to cover the exhaust. This vehicle is an off the road vehicle. The model name is rubicon.
While parking my 2006 Jeep Wrangler unlimited into a parking space I put the car into park and it continued to drift forward. I had to pull the emergency brake up to stop it. I turned the car off and then it would not restart. I had the car repaired and it was the transmission shifter cable.
In one example out of many engine cuts out completely, vehicle slows down then cuts back in. 15 times, then engine cuts out and stalls. Leaving me in an emergency situation on the freeway. All this during a 40 mile trip.
My Jeep is experiencing premature failure of the oil pump drive assembly (opda), with only 31,000 miles on the Jeep. The failure was noticed when a chirping was heard coming from the opda upon engine start up. I contacted Chrysler who had me get the problem diagnosed at a local Jeep dealer, which LED to the replacement of the oil pump drive gear. The replacement of the drive gear did nothing to eliminate the chirping. There was some wear on the drive gear when it was replaced. A search on jeepforum.com indicates the problem with the opda is a bushing that isn't getting oil, due to a seal that is blocking oil flow. The part comes packed with grease, but when it wears out there is no longer lubrication. …
Brand new, 2006 Jeep Wrangler 4x4, less than 5,000 miles on it when driving down the road (first incident,50 MPH), engine stalls. Try to restart...pull off to the side of the road, wait about 5 minutes, and the Jeep finally restarts. Second incident, driving down the interstate in rush hour traffic, middle lane, approximately 70 miles per hour, Jeep engine stalls again. Loss of all power, steering components, no dashboard lights or check engine lights flash. Just complete and total loss of power. Almost get rear-ended by several cars before managing to get the Jeep off on the shoulder. Sat on the side of the road for 45 minutes before the Jeep would restart. First dealership I took it to refused to look at it because I didn't have an appointment, and said they could get to it in a week or so. …
