I stepped on the brake and put the car into reverse. I backed out of a parking space at a taco bell. I did not have my foot on the accelerator. The interlock required my foot to be on the brake. I move the vehicle with only the power supplied with the vehicle at idle (500 RPM). I brought my vehicle to a complete stop with increased brake pressure. I looked to the right where I intended to exit the parking lot. I moved the shift lever to drive. The car unexpectedly accelerated across the parking lot. I still had my foot on the brake. The car violently jumped from a standing start to an extimated15 MPH, smashing into the back of another parked car, driving the front of that car over a curb, into a brick entry pillar. I applied maximum braking pressure after my car had moved about 10-15 feet or about halfway across the parking lot. …
I have a 2006 Jeep Laredo 3.6l with 54,000 miles on it. Since May of 2012 it has been nothing but a huge problem. I have contacted Jeep customer care and had a casenumber with them to get the issues resolved, needless to say they fixed half of the issues and then closed the case when the dealership that was working on it was unable to diagnose the other issues. The Jeep will lunge, jerk, and get stuck in 2nd gear at 1.5rphs until you press the gas really hard and it slips gears. For the past 4 months on and off the Jeep has been having electrical problems for example today while leaving work I was going around 30 MPH and turned my heat on then all the lights on the dashboard came on (check engine, oil,) all those my gas gage went from full to empty my headlights went off and I lost power steering and ABS brakes. …

Dt: the contact owns a 2002 Jeep Laredo. The front and back brake pads and rotors were replaced four times due to the application of cheap rotors to the vehicle. The contact stated the vehicle pulsated while driving 40 MPH, but did not have any problems with stopping. Other than the pulsation there was no indication that there were any problems with the braking system. The pulsation occurred under normal driving and road conditions. The replacements had to be done every 9,000 miles at the consumer's expense with the exception of one time. The contact stated that the torque converter failed. The consumer replaced the torque converter with the manufacturer covering half of the cost.
My 2001 Jeep accelerates when stopping and has a slow take off when accelerating. I stopped at a traffic light when applying the brakes the Jeep accelerated. I had to again apply the brakes. I never know when it is going to stop. The transmission light has come on and a gas cap was replaced when this first happened but now the accelerations have started again. I am afraid to drive the car close to any other car because I don't know if the Jeep will just take off. Also, the shift gear slips easily I have to be careful about touching the shift while driving. Has any other complaints been filed concerning the accelerations when stopping in the 2001 Jeep grand cherokees?
Tl contact owns a 2004 Jeep cherokee Laredo. The current mileage was 138,131 miles. The contact stated that his vehicle stalled and he was able to restart it. The check engine light was illuminated before the vehicle stalled. An independent mechanic stated that the crankshaft position sensor malfunctioned. The Jeep dealer stated that there the transmission caused the stalling. The purchase date was unavailable. The failure mileage was approximately 138,120 and the current mileage was 138,131.
Another vehicle and mine was backing out of a parking lot and backed in to each other, no damage done, I parked my truck, got out and the vehicle went backwards and backed into the same vehicle again and did damage this time
I have a 2000 grand cherokee. With 4.0l, auto trans., 4x4 select trac. It shifts hard taking off from a start. Seems like it double shifts while increasing speed, goes from 2nd gear to hiigh gear then back to 2nd gear and then back again all within a few seconds. I took it to a transmission shop where they explained to me about the possibility of an o-ring seal that was to small and to replace it would require the transmission to be removed from the vehicle. Very expensive. I haven't had the repair completed yet. Before I take it in for repair, has anyone else experience this problem and or another fix?
