Within 20 seconds a steering wheel light appeared on the dash. Within approximately 20 more seconds, I was able to pull over into a plowed turnout. As soon as we stopped the vehicle we noticed a fire in the engine compartment. We were able to extinguish it within a few minutes with our fire extinguisher. Steering on jeep is very loose on cold mornings. It gets very wobbly and unable to control above 40mg. You have to be super careful when driving. Took it to the dealership and they said I would need to contact jeep wave as it's a known issue with " death wobble ". This jeep is a 2022 with zero modifications and has the crazy wobble.

When traveling around 35-40 mph and a bump or dip in the road (think manhole cover) is hit by either the left or right wheel an extreme wobble and vibration in the steering column occurs. This will last 5-15 seconds until it works itself out. Research on the internet indicates that this is a common problem called a "death wobble". The concern is that this may cause loss of control resulting in crash. This is an unmodified jeep gladiator bought new at the dealership with all mopar parts. When speaking to the dealership they do not acknowledge that this is an known problem and state that they cannot reproduce the issue. Which is reproducible as I have done it. Since this is a widely reported issue on the internet I believe this to be a severe safety issue that needs to be fixed by jeep. I do have video of one of the many incidents and can provide upon request.

when driving at a high rate of speed typically 70-75 mph on an interstate, the entire vehicle will randomly start violently shaking this is typically triggered when the vehicle hits a bump or a overpass transition on the road. You have to hit the brakes and slow down to at least 45 before the shaking will stop and you can resume driving again. I was between two semi one time this happened. There are no warning lights or indicators. This first happened in Nov 2022, I have had this inoected by the dealership multiple times. They replaced the steering stabilizer in Jan 2023 I had no further issues until June 2023 when it started happening again. It is currently at the dealership again. They said they can't test drive it above 60 so they can't duplicate the problem . I have video of one of the incidents.

Jun 2023

I had an issue while I was driving my 2022 Jeep Mojave as I was accelerating to join traffic on the highway, and merging to the left. I suddenly lost my power steering capability. I no longer had power steering throughout my entire drive at Highway speed however once I encountered traffic on the highway and I slowed down to approximate 20-30 mph suddenly my power steering returned. This was extremely dangerous and thankfully my kids weren't driving when it happened. Jeep doesn't have any fix but this should absolutely be a recall! This car only has 20k miles on it and has never been mistreated in any way. All over the forums and also YouTube are stories of people having this exact issue. [redacted]
