Transfer case burnout had internal manufacture defects. Temperature coolant sensor over heated and completely melted, causing car to overheat. Driverside door panel clips detoriated. Dimmer light knob had 2 replacements and continued to brake. Car went for servicing, car was fine before servicing, car came back from dealership with break pad and rotor problems. Dealership replaced original car break pads with faulty pads to damage rotors and have me as a customer pay for a service that is not warranted. Car also came back from dealership with an engine tick and tire grinding sound that it never had, dealership service manager said it's normal to get out of engine inspection when these sounds are new sounds that had never existed. …
The engine stalled out when we were traveling in the passing lane at speed on an interstate highway. We had to move to the right side shoulder of the highway in front of another vehicle we had just passed and other traffic coming close behind. Definitely a scary situation for us and the other drivers. We were towed to the nearest jag dealer. The dealer had our car for two weeks. They replaced the fuel pump. The service tech's told us that they had never heard of a fuel pump going bad in an x-Type. When I questioned the cost of the job, about $1450, I was told that the fuel tank had to be removed to replace the fuel pump. …
Tl* - during a scheduled maintenance on 11/12/2004 the contact was told she qualified for a transmission replacement. The vehicle had 30,000 miles. The contact had not experienced problems. The contact stated when she went back for the scheduled appointment she was told they made a mistake that transmission was fine. The vehicle started experiencing a jerking movement. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer ,and was told they could not duplicate the problem, the jerking eventual stopped. Recently, the transmission started slipping, there were no warning indicators the contact stated the dealer has had the vehicle since 11/20/06. The transmission is inoperable and has to be replaced. The contact stated that the dealer has told her the transmission is faulty. The vehicle has approximately 45,000 miles. The failure milage was 2,9710.
Was driving approximately 30mph on my way to the dealer for scheduled oil change and without any warning the car started making a grinding noise and stopped. It would not move forward or reverse. Managed to get the car to the side of the road and called the dealer for assistance. Upon inspection the dealer told me the car needed a transmission and transfer case because the internal gears were fragmented.
On January 1, 2007 I was coming to a stop in heavy traffic. I applied the brake but the car lurched forward and I accelerated into a stopped car containing a family. I occasionally experienced the problem of unitended acceleration prior to the accident but at the time of the accident, I had not put the facts together. In the spring of 2008, I was on wet pavement going downhill when I applied the brake. The car seemed to accelerate rather than decelerate and I was thrown forward and into the rear of stopped pick up truck. I was injured on both occasions. I have called on Jaguar on several occasions to inquire about the problem I have described herein. Each time Jaguar denied any knowledge of any such problems associated with my car. The car currently has 72,000 miles and I rarely drive it. Frankly, I'm too afraid to drive it. Sincerely, [redacted]
My Jaguar x-Type 2004 car when traveling at about 25-30 MPH alternately gets sluggish and slows or revs up, causing me to apply brakes hard to prevent collisions. I have to allow enormous space between me and the vehicle ahead because I am afraid of colliding with vehicles in front. Also have to brake hard to to overcome the surging forth of the engine. The car will also rev up when I am parking it. These are such common occurrences, and it seems to be a manufacturing malfunction. Jaguar should recall all 2004 x-types to fix these dangerous and potentially life threatening machines. I request that the NHTSA immediately follow up and require recall of these road hazards. Thank you.
I pulled intp a slot on a parking deck. When I tried to change the gear to park the car lunged forward crashing into a retaining wall. It was pushing against the wall so hard I was afraid I would go through the wall or over the wall. I was on the second level of the deck. When I put the car in reverse it sped backward and struck a car parked behind me. It then crashed into a concrete wall spun around and crashed the drivers door into a concrete piller it then straightened up and sped straight backward crashing into a 4 ft high wall where the engine cut off.
While traveling on the interstate vehical's cruise control was activated when a gear box failure occured (this was the message displayed by the car), therefore resulting in the car stalling while going approx 55mph. The car was then stuck in the rear by another vehical that failed to notice my vehical slowing. I also exprienced a fuel gage eroor on 2/13/04 the fuel box was replaced by the dealer. All information is stored in onboard computer.
