4/14/15 vehicle purchased from carmax. Problem: brakes do not work when pushed all the way to the floor first brake failure (4/15/15) two days after purchase, brakes failed at approx. 6 pm under clear weather/good road conditions, while traveling north on vermont ave. In gardena, ca at approx. 10 MPH. The QX56 hit a Dodge stratus stopped at a red light. The stratus driver was injured and subsequently required medical treatment. The QX56 was returned to carmax for repair, but carmax said they could not recreate the brake failure. The vehicle was towed to Infiniti and an engineer was sent out to pull the black (recorder) box. To date, we have not received the report of findings. Infiniti said they checked the brakes and that the vehicle was safe to drive. …
Driving down highway 421 in wilkesboro, nc on a 45 MPH section of the highway, merged over into the turning lane to turn left across two lanes of traffic. Waited for a break in traffic, upon a break in traffic tried to accelerate to cross traffic, as vehicle started to accelerate it stalled in middle of road. Wife and children in car started screaming. Traffic nice enough not to run into us. Had car towed to local automotive repair shop. Found that this is a common problem for the 5.6 litter Nissan/ Infiniti engine. One of the timing gears for the left bank stopped rotating some how. This side of the engine timing system also powers the fuel pump so that you cannot even limp across the road on half the engine. It just stops right where you are. You have no steering no breaking and no propulsion. …
When I'm stopped at a light the vehicle will start to roll forward unexpectedly and extra pressure needs to be applied to the brake pedal to prevent the vehicle from moving, at this point the brake pedal is almost at the floor and pumping the pedal a few times will restore the brakes to a normal feel. The Infiniti dealer states this is a normal condition and repairs are not needed. This has been ongoing since 04/2015 to present.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 Infiniti QX56. The contact stated that while driving 60 MPH and slightly applying the brakes, the brakes seized, causing the vehicle to stop instantly. The contact stated that once the vehicle came to a complete stop, the brakes released and the vehicle functioned properly. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for inspection but they were not able to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 7,200.
Occasionally Brake light turns on in my dashboard then my braking system loses hydraulic pressure and I have troubling braking till I turn car off then resets and goes back to normal but while brake light us on is very troubling and concerning? This has happened on many occasions since purchasing the car if I remember in 2018
There are times when driving under 50 mph brake light comes on and the brakes have goes out which cause me to do an emergency pullover turn off the truck for a few minutes and the brakes reset. This is very concerning for me. This has happened on a few occasions.
I'm having brake problems with my 2007 QX56. I have been experiencing a brake problem twice in 2 weeks. At random times, it is difficult to bring the vehicle to a stop. It acted like the ABS was trying to engage. It was like I was slipping on something when I was applying the brakes. There is a slight metal rattle noise while pressing the brake pedal all the way down while trying to come to a stop. The brake light comes on. There is no shaking of the steering wheel or vehicle. No fluid leaked or anything I could see. The brake fluid but it was not real low above the min mark but below the max mark. After the brake problem occurs, a restart of the vehicle will make the brake light go away and the truck drives fine. I have been google their were a lot of complaint about Nissan armada, Nissan titan and Infiniti QX56 vehicles have dangerous brake problems same as my issued. …
While driving my vehicle I applied the brakes to slow for a turn. My brakes make a loud grinding sound and were not properly working. The brake light came on and pulled off the road. Once the vehicle was put in park and restarted the light went off and the brakes worked properly again. I have read several other stories of this happening to others. Why isn't Infiniti doing anything about this? This has happened a few times since I have owned this vehicle.
