SUV would not start so had to get a jump. 1 week later same thing. Had battery tested but was not bad and it had just been replaced by dealer in 2019. 1 week later again SUV would not start. Got a jump and took to jba Infiniti in ellicott city, md who charged the battery for 2 hours. 2 weeks later, SUV is hesitating to start. I refuse to pay another $186 for them to diagnose and then recharge the battery again. After some research it looks like others are having this same issue. Next, catalytic converters. SUV is 8 years old and jba Infiniti is telling me I need to replace them @ a cost of $7500. This is ridiculous.....I don't have loss of power but I so get the "rotten egg" smell sometimes. I would think this part would be covered under emission warranty for at least 15 years. I have 142000 miles on it.

Was driving home, A/C was on, all lights was on, all of a suddenly lost of power to the engine and while going up hill, so I floor it so the vehicle so I can get past over the hill then I started to smell something through the vents like it was on fire coming from the engine bay so I pulled over and turned off the engine pop the hood but didn't see no fire, then when I tried to start the vehicle back up it wouldn't so I waited for few minutes and tried again, the vehicle started back up so I went on driving again but it didn't show any thing on the dash no check engine light at all. …

We have had problems with the battery since we bought the QX56. SUV's completely dies after a glove box light, radio has been played for 20 to 30 minutes, car cannot be jumped by typical cables, every time we either had to have a heavy duty jump done by tow company or battery was replaced by Infiniti. Timing chain and both catalytic converters need to be replaced, with engine issues. Infiniti had SUV for almost a month to fix engine and timing chain. Engine light still coming on then we where told the converters needed to be replaced. $5K to fix. It sounds like this is a very common issue with QX56 for this year and others. After each time engine light came on Infiniti service dept told us to continue driving the car and after 2 weeks if it didn't reset then call back again. …

Timing chain started rattling @ 125,000 miles.. However, my VIN shows no recall for my car. Cats went bad, had to be replaced and now need to be replaced again. Yet no recall on my car. The battery constantly goes dead in the car. I bought a new infinity battery in the car the same thing happened. You can reproduce this problem by sitting in the car listening to the radio for 30 minutes. I was sitting in the car listening radio and the car battery went dead and the car shut off. This is a huge issue, the QX56 is a 8 cylinder car. It does not charge very easily. I have to carry a battery charger in my car. I have been stranded several times in the last year. I have taken the car to infinity and they claim nothing is wrong with the car. Since it is a big car the battery drain quickly.

I recently purchased this vehicle, and within weeks it began experiencing intermittent and complete failure to start. The most serious incident happened in Phoenix at a Walmart parking lot. The vehicle refused to start at around 10 PM, and I was stranded with my daughter until 1 AM in the middle of a severe storm. The vehicle would not crank, would not click, and gave no warning lights before the failure. We were stuck inside the vehicle with no ability to move it to safety. This created a dangerous situation because we were exposed to lightning, heavy rain, and unsafe conditions in a dark parking lot late at night. If the vehicle had failed in traffic or on the highway, it could have caused an accident or left us trapped in a hazardous location. The failure is unpredictable and has happened multiple times, making the vehicle unreliable and unsafe to operate. …
