Owner reports

Selected complaints filed with NHTSA by 2005 Infiniti G35 owners, lightly cleaned up (personal details are redacted by NHTSA).

The fuel gauge is not reading correctly, and I have to rely on knowing my mileage and how much I last filled in my tank. I have to keep the car running longer than necessary to even duplicate the problem, and when I do the gas gauge just suddenly starts dropping. And if for some reason I even let my gas get low enough to have the low fuel lamp come on, it's almost too late and I barely make it to a gas station. I have not had the issue reproduced/confirmed by any independent servicer. I have seen in many G35 forums that this is an issue that has not had a recall yet. All of the other models for Nissan/Infiniti 2005 were recalled for the fuel sensor in 2010, but not the G35/G37 model. If this keeps happening I will eventually be involved in an accident when my gas runs out unexpectedly on the highway.

I have 118K miles on my vehicle. I recently have had many issues with my fuel gauge. I've read hundreds of complaints online regarding the instrument cluster and fuel gauge issues. This is very dangerous because the other day I almost lost control of my vehicle I think because it was almost out of fuel. The gas gauge read over 1/2 tank. I called the local infinitilupient and they said there were no recalls. There should be. Hundreds of people have said that this happens around 120,000. This needs to be a recall.

I ran out of gas on my commute home from work. My gas hand read a quarter of a tank when I completely ran out of gas leaving me stranded on the interstate. Since this happened I've done some research and it's a common problem for G35 Infiniti's. They gave a recall on the Nissan and Infiniti SUV for this exact problem same year my 2005 Infiniti was made. The G35 sedan and coupe should be included in this recall.

Fuel gauge inaccuracy caused me to run out of gas on the interstate. I was travelling at highway speeds when this occurred. There was sufficient time and space to pull over to the shoulder. Contacted virginia state police. They dispatched a highway safety patrol vehicle that gave me enough gas to reach a gas station

Driving car in traffic - the car stalled. Almost rear ended. No warning. Unable to restart car for 5-10 minutes. On engine light on - vcf (off) light on - slip light on. The problem is with the crankshaft angel sensor and/or the camshaft position sensor. Car automatically shuts down.

Fuel gauge does not work . It never goes below 2/3 full and could cause the car to run out of gas. If this happened when on the freeway it could lead to a dangerous situation as steering and brakes would be affected along with avoiding other vehicles if car lost power intraffic.

Fuel gauge does not show accurate information. Cannot fill gas take full anymore. Will only hold approx. 6 gallons. If car runs out of gas without proper warning May cause bad accident. There should be a recall on this matter immediately.

Sometime goes by driving and the needle will fluctuates down to half way mark. Shut off car...go shopping and come back start car and needle at 3/4 mark. Drive hm. Shut off. Start car next day and needle at 3/4 mark again. Not accurate as u can tell. After drivin awahile the gas would go down and gas light comes on. Drive home. Turn car off. Nxt morning start car and the needle is at half way to 3/4 way mark gain. This not possible bcause yesterday the needle was low and gas light came on. Now its back at 3/4 mark.
