The ICCU (Integrated Charge Control Unit) failed. Fortunately I was in a parking lot at the time, as the vehicle limited its top speed to around 25 mph. Had the failure occurred on a highway it could have caused a collision. While this is a 2025 model year Ioniq 5, the ICCU hardware (part 36400-1XAA0) remains unchanged across all Hyundai/Kia/Gensis vehicles sharing the eGMP platform. NHTSA previously issued recall 24V-868 intended to address such ICCU failures. While the modified software is included from the factory in the 2025 model year Ioniq 5, it appears that the 24V-868 recall is not a complete fix. Indeed, ICCU failure continues to be one of the most commonly reported owner issues, both for vehicles which have already had the "fix" from recall 24V-868 and for newer vehicles outside of the recall's scope. …

On the afternoon of Saturday, December 12th 2025 I was preparing my car for a trip an hour north and back to drop my daughter off with her grandmother. I was charging my car with my Level 2 charger and preheating my car. Upon leaving for the trip, within a half mile I heard a loud popping sound coming from the rear of the vehicle and immediately had a warning on the vehicle stating "Stop Vehicle and Check Power Supply". The vehicle soon started to lose drive power, and I had to perform a U-turn and then parked at the nearby Quaill Volunteer Fire Department to perform a basic safety check. Knowing that I probably had the Hyundai Ioniq 5 ICCU issue, I knew that my car would soon have no power so I waited for an opportune time to leave the fire station to coast back to my house. After arriving home, I contacted Hyundai Roadside Assistance and my car was soon towed away. …

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? - It was ultimately diagnosed as an ICCU failure. The part is no longer in my possession. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? - Occurred on public street, fortunately a slow moving 25MPH speed limit several blocks from my workplace. I was able to limp the vehicle to a nearby parking lot and call for towing. Unfortunately, several hours later the vehicle was unable to be moved, leaving me stranded, and requiring it to be towed to local Hyundai dealership. I was ultimately without a vehicle for >1 week. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? - Yes, confirmed as ICCU failure. Additionally, my vehicle had the software update at the time that was supposed to fix / greatly decrease the rate of ICCU failures. …

The vehicle was returned to me after a manufacturer-authorized high-voltage battery replacement that was completed on December 10, 2025. Immediately after pickup, the vehicle began exhibiting safety-related issues. I experienced abnormal and hard steering operation, repeated low coolant warnings, and battery management system (BMS) and electrical warning messages. These warning messages appeared immediately after the repair and before the vehicle was driven by me. I returned the vehicle to the dealership multiple times for the same issues. During the final visit, the dealership retained the vehicle for approximately 12 days. After this inspection period, I was informed that the vehicle had underbody damage affecting the coolant system and high-voltage battery and that the damage was likely caused by road debris. …

Driver was moving forward into a space in a parking garage between two other vehicles. Driver had pulled most of the way in and was slowly inching forward. As the car came to a stop, it suddenly lurched forward, hitting a concrete wall. The collision warning system did not alert, and auto-braking did not occur. The car was in Regen Level 3, and Auto Hold was not activated. In the months prior to this, the car twice had a similar situation when coming to a stop at an intersection with foot on the brake, then suddenly lurched forward, nearly rear-ending a car in front. There was no visible damage to the concrete wall, and a police report was not made. Hyundai says they want to inspect vehicle, but have not done so after a month. It is easy to believe that this was driver error, but it absolutely was not. Car lunged forward and accelerated into a wall with only the brake being applied. …

The contact's father owns a 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5. The contact stated that as her father attempted to place the vehicle into reverse(R) while in park(P), the gear shifter failed to operate as needed. The contact's father was not injured and a police report was not filed. The garage door and pillar were damaged, as well as, the vehicle's driver-side door. The vehicle was initially towed to the dealer where the vehicle was inspected for the failure. 1.We purchased the vehicle (Hyundai Ioniq 5, 2022 Model) on MAY 20, 2022. 2.The vehicle was acceptable until it started to fail on us while we were on the road, and soon after the vehicle crawled home at limited power and came to a stop, it would no longer even turn on. 3.Then started our nightmare with Hyundai USA. We called the service department and they told us, based on our brief description of what happened, that our vehicle would be unsafe to drive a single more mile (which was impossible anyhow because it wouldn't turn on), and to tow our vehicle to Hyundai dealership in Fayetteville, AR for repair on DECEMBER 27, 2022 at our own expense. 4. From what Hyundai, Fayetteville, AR's service engineer named Evan told us, they have replaced the fuse no less than four times and it kept blowing when they went to test the vehicle. …
