Tl* the contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Azera. While driving various speeds, the seat belt and air bag warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the new wiring harness clip was loose and needed to be tightened. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was previously serviced per NHTSA campaign number: 10V007000 (air bags, seat belts) but the remedy failed to repair the vehicle. The vehicle was brought back to the dealer several times for the failure. The contact was advised that no one over 150 lbs should utilize the passenger seat. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the seat limit was 150 lbs. The approximate failure mileage was 95,000.

Our airbag light is on all the time. Back in oct 2014, car had 119K miles, we took it to the dealer because there was a recall on the seat belt tensioner. They said that the car was salvage title so nothing could be done (salvage title due to hail damage). They said the recall had already been performed. They charged us for the diagnostic and recommended we replace the right (passenger) seat belt retractor assembly but we did not do this. Also, there are 2 cracks in the passenger side dashboard that were there when we bought the car. My husband thought it was probably sun damage, but I have since seen in the NHTSA comments that this is an issue due to airbag below.

Electrical system

My 2007 Hyundai Azera is subject to NHTSA Recall 18V026 (Hyundai Safety Recall Campaign 172) for water intrusion into the ABS control module causing electrical short circuits and fire risk. The recall remedy - installation of a relay to cut power to the ABS module when the ignition is off - was completed on my vehicle. Despite the completed remedy, the ABS module shorted and failed. At the diagnosing dealer (Hyundai of Ogden, Ogden, UT), technicians found a blown 20A ABS fuse and no communication with the module; when a replacement fuse was installed, the ABS module immediately began smoking. The technician documented water intrusion into the module as the cause - the same failure mode the recall addressed - and noted no outside cause. This occurred with the vehicle powered, a condition the relay remedy does not mitigate. …
