Purchased a new Honda RTL-E Ridgeline 3 days ago... Traded in a 2017.. Both have auto high beam feature.. The 2022 is erratic, at times fails to operate (engage the high beams even after surpassing the 45 MPH cut in speed. In addition to that, the high beams fail to remain on even when there is no oncoming traffic or fail to disengage etc.. This is not caused by ambient outside light or reflections off road signage, as I know how they worked and worked very well on my 2017.. The defective system create a major safety hazard as they almost always fail to turn off with oncoming traffic.. So drivers are blinded by High Beams and the driver of the Ridgeline expects them to turn off, hesitates expecting them to work before they realize they are not going to turn off... …

Oct 2022

The automatic high/low beams do not work properly. The do not go to high beam when they are suppose to and they do not dim when they are suppose to. Any reflective device along the road will cause them to either dim or brighten. When an approaching vehicle is coming toward me the lights will not dim like they should and sometimes I will have to do it manually. This is a safety problem not only for myself but also for oncoming vehicles. I have had it to the dealership 5 times, they have replaced the light sensor at the base of the windshield and the camera behind the rearview mirror and have told me that this should resolve the problem but it has not as they continue to malfunction. There are numerous reports on line about the ridgeline having this problem and so far the dealership has not been able to fix it. They know they have the problem but they don't seem concerned about it. …

Coming down a ramp in parking deck with right foot lightly riding the brake pedal to control the car's descent when all of a sudden the vehicle accelerated full throttle as if the gas pedal had been "floored." The acceleration was so intense that it drove my body backward into my seat and pulled my foot off the brake. At this point, the only control I had was my hands on the steering wheel. With the car continuing to accelerate towards the parked cars, I quickly turned the steering wheel to the right, but too late and the front driver side of my vehicle clipped one of the parked cars. My foot is still in the air and yet the car is still surging ahead full throttle and my vehicle is flying towards a car that had come down the ramp a few seconds ahead of me. …
