Owner reports
Selected complaints filed with NHTSA by 2006 Honda Accord owners, lightly cleaned up (personal details are redacted by NHTSA).
The contact owns a 2006 Honda Accord. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 MPH, there was an abnormal metal-on-metal grinding sound coming from under the floorboards. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact attempted to restart the vehicle, but the vehicle failed to start. The contact had the vehicle towed to the residence. The vehicle was not taken to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 280,000.
I recently learned of the NHTSA's complaint section and is the reason in the delay in reporting this incident: Front Driveshaft Breakage/Failure On May 1, 2014, the Front Left Driveshaft/CV Axle Broke on my 2006 Honda Accord EX V6 4-Door. This vehicle had 177,694 miles at the time of incident. The car was stopped at an intersection waiting to make a left-hand turn. After the traffic light turned green, the car just started rolling when the driveshaft snapped/broke. On May 2, 2014, this vehicle was towed, and my Auto Technician was stunned to see the axle/driveshaft had broken. He stated that driveshafts are, typically, made of hardened steel and should never break. He also mentioned that if this break would've occurred at expressway speeds (the majority of my driving is at expressway speeds), this would've been catastrophic. Clearly, this is a Major Safety Issue. …
The vehicle was taken to two Honda dealerships apon noticing the D light blinking on the dashboard after reaching highway speeds. Also started getting worse overtime, currently when starting up, and putting into drive, nothing happens, and after a few seconds it will plurge forward into gear on its own. Down shifting when braking is rough and delayed also. Ive addressed this issue with Honda, and they just look my vin number and tell me there is no recall and id have to pay $200 out of pocket simply to run a diagnostic, when I know this should be covered under their recall as all symptoms are matching their current recalls for this vehicle. Also accomanied sometimes with a check engine light indicating the O2 Sensor connected to the catalater converter is having a delayed reaction. Also the airbag red light is always steady illuminated. …
I attempted to contact McConnell Honda in montgomery alabama; which is now Cannon Honda Montgomery about my 2006 Honda accord v6. To my understanding there was a recall for the power steering feed hose. I don't recall being contacted when the recall was issued. My last attempts to get my car scheduled was October 2, 2026 and October 3,2026. Now the pump has seized and broken my drive belt. I need assistance with getting clarification about the time frame of issued recalls being fixed by dealership /Honda certified shop. The failure of pump now caused another issue. My car now is inoperable.
I was driving up a hill got to the stop light which red . And then light turned green i went to take off i heard a big bang as i began to accelerate my vehicle began to drift backwards into traffic I put my hazard on one grabbed the emergency brake. I then was able to have some people punch mi vehicle into a parking space until a tow truck came . Here if goes my drivering axle broke in half and my CV joint broke which my transmission fell.
I had just gotten off the interstate about 2 minutes. I was approaching a traffic light, when I tried to accelerate through it. My engine roared, but did not go anywhere. So I looked around, and cars were up on me, nearly rear-ending me. They were upset that I mashed my brakes, rather than driving through the intersection. I put on my emergency lights for them to go around me, as I put the car in park, it kept rolling back, reverse, it kept rolling as if it was in neutral, drive, it kept rolling. I had to pull the emergency brakes up to get the car to stop. After nearly getting hit from the rear numerous times, I was finally able to allow the vehicle to roll backwards into a parking lot and park it. It took me nearly 3 hours to finally get the car towed home. This is a dangerous experience. I can only imagine if this had happened to an inexperienced driver. …
This is my first Honda & will be my last. Bought the car with 50,000 miles on it-figured we were set for quite a while. At 53,000 the transmission went-3,000 miles over warranty. Called Honda directly & after crying, begging, pleading, etc they replaced the transmission free of charge. Three years later I have a car with 110,000 miles on it. The white paint is all pitted with rust spots, the passenger side motor lock is broken & the driver side passenger window motor is shot. God only knows about the air bags!! I hate this car with a passion. My husbands 1996 Toyota camry has absolutely nothing wrong with it at over 200,000 miles!! I can't believe Honda doesn't put out recalls on some of these things as I've read quite a few complaints about them on the internet. Obviously Honda isn't concerned about their reputation at all. …
My vehicle is experiencing the same issues as described in recall #11V395000, however my VIN is not listed as being affected by that recall. I contact Honda USA directly, opened a case #10120384, and was told that there was no extended warranty and nothing could be done. The vehicle is making a noise while driving and suddenly loses all power, this has only happened so far while the vehicle is in motion, exactly as described by the 2011 recall for the PCM, the check engine light in my vehicle also indicates the PCM is at fault, however because my VIN is not part of the recall any fix must be done out of pocket. The issues happening are exactly as described in the recall, because of this it seems as though additional vins might have needed to be included.
NHTSA id#89 there is a line up stop & go for pick up item , so it shift nutrual an d from time to time as like on line loading. Tl* the contact owns a 2006 Honda Accord. While driving various speeds, the transmission skipped gears and caused the engine to rev very high. Also, a knocking noise was present coming from the engine. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who was unable to determine the cause of the failures. The manufacturer stated that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 11V395000 (power train). The contact stated that the vehicle experienced the same failure listed in the recall. The local dealer was not notified. The failure mileage was 110,000.
