What 1999 GMC Pickup owners say
Brakes
Brakes malfunctioned on vehicle when applied. The brakes failed as the driver was pulling into a parking space. As a result the vehicle hit the building causing $2500 in damage to the truck. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection and the mechanic determined that the control sensors needed to be replaced. The sensors were replaced but the problem recurred.
ABS pump keeps running had to remove fuse to keep battery from running down I have a 1999 GMC picjup truck. Repair of this pump is $1000.00 most people are pulling the fuse and running without ABS brakes. But the brake light is on all the time so you don't know when your brakes give out. From the resourch I have done this seems to be a very common problem. I believe there should be a recall to fix the faulty pumps. Thank you
Wheels & tires
Tread face seperation. I have since traded the other three tires and purchased new tires. I was one of the people who had blow outs of the Firestone tires in the 70's. This event concerned me enough to get the tires off the vehicle. I incurred a substantial cost to trade out seemingly new tires. I would like to know how a situation like mine can be included in a cliam on the recall to Firestone?( dot number: tire size: lt265-17 )
Consumer took vehicle to the dealer because of an air leak through the casting of the rear aluminum wheel of the vehicle. Both wheels were replaced under warranty. The design is such that the brake caliper assembly is so close to the rear wheel that small rocks get caught in between. This causes gouges on the inside of the wheel deep enough to cause wheel failure.
Fuel & propulsion system
Consumer stated while driving and without warning the fuel tank cracked and caused fuel to leak. Dealer notified. There was a leakage, it was discovered that the tank collapsed. At the time the driver heard a loud noise. The consumer had the tank repaired because GMC has not been able to furnish a new vehicle. Scc
Faulty fuel gauge. Needle in dash jumps back & forth between empty & full. Never know how much gas I really have.
