Selected complaints filed with NHTSA by 2022 Ford Mustang Mach E owners, lightly cleaned up (personal details are redacted by NHTSA).
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E. The contact stated that while having the Blue Cruise system activated at approximately 70 MPH, the vehicle suddenly drifted to the right. The contact was able to straighten out the vehicle however, the vehicle drifted to the left and then to the right again. After a while, the contact was able to regain control of the vehicle by manually operating the steering wheel instead of using the Blue Cruise system to control the vehicle. The contact stated that shortly after regaining control of the vehicle, the failure recurred in the opposite direction going from left to right, and then to the left. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact was able to maintain control. The dealer was contacted and was able to remotely pull the codes from the vehicle for diagnostic testing. …
Power steering went out including 10+ error / fault codes displaying on the dash on the vehicle after planned having vehicle towed but was back to normal after a restart. Exiting the parking lot at a low speed power steering failed again resulting in a low speed crash. After having it towed to dealership they reviewed software on the vehicle seeing vehicle has has fault codes and module errors for 3+ months on their Ford telemetries cloud system showing module and system errors every other day. Dealership asked if I ever got notice via vehicle or app about these errors which I never received. Ford Legal was notified and said vehicle did have a possible Bluecruise recall and nothing wrong with vehicle without having a Ford Engineer viewing the vehicle. My dealership still said cloud system showed all these errors which didn't seem be an issue to ford. …
I had put the vehicle into One Pedal Drive mode for the first time on the morning of Aug 29th. Vehicle operated as it should for first few places I drove to and stopped, but then I approached a red light, removed foot slowly from accelerator and vehicle came to a full stop as it should. Approximately 2-5 seconds later, without warning or even the collision avoidance system activating, my vehicle suddenly accelerated into the rear of the stopped truck in front of me. Fortunately no serious injuries but someone could have been killed. My foot was NOT on the accelerator at the time - it was hovering over it while waiting for the light to change to green. My vehicle was taken to Ford for evaluation, but they claim it has to be repaired before they can diagnose/confirm the issue. I am the original owner with no previous accidents or incidents.
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Mustang Mach E. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed with the Adaptive Cruise Control activated, the steering wheel jerked in the direction of oncoming traffic. The contact depressed the brake pedal and steered the vehicle back into the correct lane. The contact stated that the "Driver Assist Not Available" message was displayed. The contact stated that the message was displayed after the vehicle jerked and steered into the oncoming traffic. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring for approximately one year. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 500.
Car was stopped at the top of a hill. Driver put the car in park and exited to talk to a security guard to raise a security barrier. Car began to roll down a hill and didn't stop until it hit a metal security gate 250 yards away. Car was totaled as result of collision with gate. No one was hurt. It would appear that the transmission/engine did not stay in park and began to roll and that none of the other safety features stopped the car. There were no passengers in the car at the time of the accident and no airbags went off.
The contact owns a 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E. The contact stated while reversing(R) at approximately 2 MPH, the back-up camera image froze and then went black. The contact stated that the "Parking Assist" warning light illuminated and then a random game launched on the screen. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 16,000.
Multiple safety features rendered INOPERABLE AND USELESS including front collision warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping system because FORD uses an inferior product to connect the vehicle's cameras and sensors. Each of the systems listed "front collision warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping system" are now DISABLED and they are integral to preventing collisions. The vehicle is marketed with those features and is presumably justification of the MSRP charged to customers. FORD is apparently aware of the issue based on FORD forums, that replacement of windshield can comprise the coax cable. …
Shortly after purchasing my vehicle on [redacted], specifically on [redacted] a significant malfunction was encountered, indicated by the 'Front Camera Fault Service Required' and 'Pre-Collision Assist Not Available' warnings. Returning to the dealership on May 5th, the manager misinformed, stating the issue was a recall and required service at a Ford dealership. However, upon contacting Ford Lincoln with the VIN, it was discovered these codes are not associated with any recall. I returned to the dealership, provided them the printout from Ford Lincoln explaining the codes and how it's not a recall. They then told me that they will not honor the repairs due to me exceeding my 30-day extension. I proceeded to leave and said I'll deal with it when it poses a problem. After a resent software update, a new code popped up saying "Door Fault Service Required". …
The Adaptive Cruise Control indicated speed lags when user changes speed. The lag will fluctuate from non-existent to 4-5sec at times. It occurs at different speeds and for different changes (e.g., speeding up to 45mph or speeding down to 25mph.) It also occurs when changing speeds in different increments (e.g., one click up for 1mph increase or hold down for 5mph decrease.) The lag is only in the display and not the actual drivetrain, meaning that the selected speed in the Adaptive Control indicator is not relaying the selected speed even though the car itself is changing speed. …
was driving my 2022 Mustang Mach-E in "One-Pedal" Whisper mode on. I always drive in that mode because it has a great feature where as soon as I take my foot off the accelerator the car slows down significantly. I feel safer in this mode especially in high traffic or on the freeway. I was very slowly turning into a parking spot in a private parking lot, stepped on brake to put car into Park when the car lurched forward without me touching anything, I had no control of my car no matter how hard I pressed on the brake. My car was driving itself!! when it lurched forward it hit a car parked directly in front of it on its right front side then pushing that vehicle about 2 feet! it did not stop even then, it veered to the right and forward and hit another parked car in the next parking space to the first car that was hit. …
