Owner reports
Selected complaints filed with NHTSA by 1995 Ford F-150 owners, lightly cleaned up (personal details are redacted by NHTSA).
The vehicle was parked overnight and the consumer was unable to start the ignition. The consumer opened the hood, and saw wires melted. The dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem. The cruise control switch caused the melting of the wiring harness and the brake fluid reservoir. All of the brake fluid leaked onto the engine. The wiring harness was burned completely from the engine to the steering column. The consumer was aware that later model Ford 150's were experiencing the same problem. There was no horn or cruise control and the air bag light flashed.
While driving vehicle about 35 MPH consumer lost control of vehicle without a reason on the road, hitting a three head-on first, and the air bag did not deploy. The garage technician said the reason that air bag did not deploy was because the sensors were not activated. Dealer nor manufacturer were contacted. * 535945 duplicate of 822622, posted on 03-nov-98. 534150 dup of 822622; posted on 09-07-1999
