I had just got on interstate when my car started cutting out. I immediately put my flashers on & tried to get in the left lane so I could get on shoulder of interstate but cars would not allow me to get over. My car died in middle of interstate. I called asap (a service in alabama for help on the interstate) & told them where I was & I needed them to bring me some gas. Then a car came flying up behind me but was able to stop & did not hit me. Then the car behind him had stopped but a truck behind her was not able to stop. He hit her, she hit the man behind me and he hit me. Paramedics were called for a 4 year old in the womans car who said his head hurt. I could have been killed if the car behind me had hit me and turned my car sideways & was hit on the side by another car, because everyone was driving way too fast and did not acknowledge my flashers at all. …
While traveling at 55 MPH on the highway at night headlights without any prior warning went out. Consumer took vehicle to dealership, and dealership put a headlight switch into vehicle, but problem still occurs.
The tail lights became inoperable after four replacements. Also, the windshield wipers did not work in low gear, and the running lights malfunctioned. The electrical connector splice from the headlight switch opened. (the right side tail light was inoperative) the tail lights, front running lamps were out again, a fuse was bad and found some more wires in the trunk wired incorrectly, the dashboard lights and the license plate tail lights worked intermittently, there was a wiring short in the harness in the cowl area, there was a blown fuse in the exterior lighting, on another occasion, the #33 fuse was found open, the sunroof was inoperative due to a shorted motor, bad drive gear and two cables.
My 1999 Ford Contour has less than 50,000 miles on it. The dashboard is coming unglued and has warped significantly. I am concerned that my safety is jeopardized. In addition, the headlights are literally falling out, due to what I perceive to be structural failure. There is no sign of visible rust or decay. Again, my safety is at risk, as my visibility is minimized by the inaccuracy of the aiming of the headlights.

I currently am the second owner of a 1998 Ford Contour. Recently the parking, and dashboard lights ceased to operate. I changed the headlight switch which lasted for a week and burned out.. Research on the internet revealed there was a service recall dated 5/10/99 under serial #99v10300 for the headlight harness which was causing the above described problem. I contacted Ford who stated their was no open recall on this vehicle. Further research on the internet revealed additional owners who had the same problem but were informed by Ford that their particular vehicle was not covered under the recall. My complaint is if so many Ford Contour models are having this problem why are only certain vehicles covered when many are having identical problems thankyou
