Owner reports
Selected complaints filed with NHTSA by 2023 Fisker Ocean owners, lightly cleaned up (personal details are redacted by NHTSA).
I was driving on [redacted] in the Dallas area when the parking brake suddenly and unexpectedly engaged. I tried to disengage it manually using the button to the left of the steering wheel, but it would not disengage. Due to the higher speed of being on a state highway, the vehicle quickly became unstable and within a few seconds the brakes locked up and I went into a spin crossing two lanes in the process. I was lucky that no other vehicles were in the path of travel and I eventually came to a stop pointing the wrong way on a 6 lane highway. Even after coming to a stop I could not disengage the parking brake. I forced the car to drive with the brake engaged and I pulled off the road and got out of the vehicle. Smoke was pouring from the braking system and upon inspection of the wheels, both rear wheels were on fire (which I took video of). …
The contact owns a 2023 Fisker Ocean. The contact stated that upon start of the vehicle, the gear shifter failed to engage and would move out the park(P) position. The contact also noticed that the gear position lights had failed to illuminate on the instrument panel. The vehicle then began to roll backwards at a rapid speed as the brakes failed to operate upon depression of the brake pedal. The contact immediately depressed the parking brake to avoid crashing into another vehicle. The contact called the manufacturer and was instructed to reboot the vehicle. Despite the reboot, the failure persisted as several warning lights appeared on the instrument panel. A technician was sent to the residence to inspect the vehicle; the contact was later informed by the mechanic that the vehicle was repaired. …
Reported faults with vehicles resulting in unintended reverse movement and an inability to move forward while in drive on a slight slope. Car would roll back even when the accelerator was nearly floored on a slight incline. Car was rolling backwards towards the edge of a cliff on a very narrow road despite multiple attempts of accelerating in drive. Reported and logged with company. Numerous counts of braking failure (unreliable regenerative breaking). Regen braking would give out unexpectedly multiple times even after software updates that were claimed by Fisker to fix the issue. This drastically impacts the braking ability of the car, safety and reliability. Regen braking inconsistencies and automatic emergency braking faults continued to occur. …
The contact owns a 2023 Fisker Ocean. The contact stated that messages indicating that the Forward Collision Avoidance cameras and sensors, and the regenerative braking system failure were displayed. The contact stated that the messages disappeared after the vehicle went into a deep sleep mode. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring intermittently. Additionally, the contact stated while driving at various speeds with Fun or Hyper Mode activated, there was an abnormal sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that a technician had been assigned to service the vehicle; however, the contact had not received assistance in the past two months. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 10.
NO Recall work performed on my car. Received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V499000 & Recall TSB10032403. NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V623000 (Service Brakes, Electric) Fisker Inc has gone out of business. A mandatory recall has been issued and the bankruptcy court has assigned a trustee to ensure vehicles are updated to version 2.2 to address safety recall issues. The update to 2.2 has been extremely unpredictable and the trustee has not been able to complete this recall. I spent #300 for replace the water pump and another $200 for diagnostic work and there is no fix at the moment for the electric issues with the car (especially ADAS and blind spot) however the trustee is still responsible for rolling out this buggy software and possibly damaging more cars with each remote installation.
The contact owns a 2023 Fisker Ocean. The contact stated while driving 30 MPH and attempting to come to a complete stop, the vehicle inadvertently applied the brakes and shifted into park independently, prompting the contact to turn off the vehicle. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. The Forward Collision Avoidance warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 7,000.
I was merging on to Interstate 5 when the vehicle in front stopped very hard to avoid hitting construction equipment that had likely fallen off a truck. I was not able to stop the car in time as the brakes seemed to not be effective. The collision warning braking system did not activate. The airbags did not activate which surprised the Highway Patrol and collision center personnel.
The car does not detect pedestrians or other vehicles in the rear of the vehicle. It does, however, detect cars on the side. I just recently backed into another car in a parking garage because this feature does not work. I am disabled, have had a spinal fusion and a neck fusion and I purchased this car because of it's advanced safety features. The features do not work!
My new car Forward Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking doesn't work when there is car infornt of my vechicle and meet with the accident. both Forward Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking is not happen during this incidence.
I have had Fisker for over a month now and it is not a drivable vehicle at the moment as it poses serious safety issues with numerous parts or functionality showing errors and suddenly not available. I would like these issues to be addressed ASAP within 30 days. There is no service center or service or place available where I can take this vehicle to showcase the issues and where the appropriate fixes can be done, which to my mind are non-available. There are many owners on Facebook and other blogs complaining about these issues. Yesterday, I was about to rear-end the vehicle in front due to regenerative braking not working. This vehicle is not fit to be permitted for sale, more so in working condition, creating safety issues. Many safety features stop working in the middle of the drive. …
