I am complaining about mr 1995 Dodge Ram sport pickup, that I have had an accident with. I wasn't aware of any recalls regarding the reduced power brake assist, and I am trying to get my vehicle's company to pay for the damage to my pickup. There was no bodily injury, however, I feel like if my brakes would have been there for me, this accident woul never have happened. I am now looking at my beautiful truck, just waiting to be fixed, ( I got a list of parts aand prices for the parts from my local Dodge dealer in imlay city, michigan, and ther total is $ 3900.00. Now I can't afford this, I don't feel that I should have to pay for this, because if my brakes would have worked for me as they always have in the past, this accident would never occured. While traveling at 24 to 30 MPH consumer tried to turn and steering wheel was locked. Consumer tried to brake there were no brakes. Vehicle hit a pole, and airbags didn't deploy. When consumer contacted dealer for a recall letter received. Dealer had no parts available. Consumer felt this accident was caused because recall problem was not corrected. While waiting for recall parts to arrive at dealer for steering wheel and column the steering wheel locked up causing accident.
The brake hose failed because of a design defect. The bracket that is part of the hose assembly causes a bend in the hose that forces the hose to contact the wheel wearing a hole in the hose. The replacement hose is designed to eliminate this bend. The right hose is designed the same way. Apparently, Chrysler found this problem and corrected it but did not recall the defective parts.
Anti-lock brakes: driving approximatelty 25mph ,person ahead stopped, hit brakes and they grabbed for a second , hit bump in road vehicle slid for 6 feet before stopping. Vehicle has been in for repairs 3 times and each time driver is told something different. Had an accident 4on -18-97 due to brake failure.
Coming to stop at stop light, brake pedal is situated too close to gas pedal, brake pedal went clear fly to floor & below gas pedal, hit gas pedal instead, vehicle hit another vehicle, was unable to stop vehicle. Air bag did not deploy.
When brakes were applied in a panic stop pedal became hard and released, resulting in extended stopping which caused a collision. Dealer has repaired vehicle several times prior to this incident.
Power brake vacuum boost failure. Hose that connects belt driven vacuum pump to the brake boost cannister was partially collapsed. Truck had been taken to the dealer 2 months earlier for loss of boost in braking system. Dealer claimed braking system was operating properly. Truck was involved in accident on 5-30-1998. Traffic situation was stop and go. Brakes had been applied once, and then had to be applied again. Truck could not be stopped from 6 car length distance from 30 MPH - about 100 ft. Brakes had lost all boost and even both feet applied as hard as possible only provided marginal braking. After the accident I found out that there has been a recall (97v06800) on some 1995 Dodge Ram diesel trucks to add an external check valve to the vacuum pump and replace the hose with an oil resistant version. …
3500 - started at 6000 miles the front brakes wore out. Replaced with new ones. Then again at 12000 miles front brakes, rotors, replaced. Then at 20000 miles calibers, brake pads, and rotors replaced. At 30000 miles master cylinder, brake hoses, replaced. Again at 40000 miles all the above replaced. At 50000 miles brake pads replaced again. At 60000 miles everything checked, tires changed, and still the truck pulls to the left at braking. Contacted Dodge customer service telling them what has happened. They said they could not help me. A service bulletin had been issued months ago pertaining to this problem but the dealer refused to help.
Truck exhibits serious pull to the left when braking. Been for service several times, replacing entire braking system, spent $2000+ on repairs, problem goes away for a couple months then comes back. Truck cannot be safely driven because the brake pull is so serious. Hitting the brakes can make the truck change lanes to the left (oncoming traffic). Cannot afford to dump more money into repairs for a problem that does not seem repairable (out of warranty). Saw many complaints on internet of same problem. Dodge must issue a recall. Very dangerous problem making lemons out of 4-5 year old trucks. Please help.
While driving and when brakes were applied they did not hold, pedal went all the way to the floor, consumer stated the vehicle coasted through a red light through a busy intersection, this was caused by a hole in the brake line, which was the result of the way the brake line was assembled. Consumer stated the 4x4 did not work, the tire blew out, there was a water leak and the carpet had to be replaced twice, the rear window was replaced, the rear brakes never worked, the radio was inoperative, the hood light flickered while driving, and also vehicle experienced transmission problems.

Vehicle description: pickup trucks equipped with diesel engines. The engine driven vacuum pump can allow engine oil into the vacuum hoses due to the absence of an internal check valve. The oil can cause the hose to deteriorate and partially collapse, reducing the vacuum supply to the brake booster.
Remedy: Dealers will add a vacuum pump check valve to the vacuum pump. In addition, the vacuum hose connected to the vacuum pump will be replaced with a hose that is engine oil resistant.
