Smoke started coming out of the vents & steering column. Took it to the dealer & they said it was spilled anti freeze from when they changed the oil. Car was OK for a little while. Now it's smoking again the front defroster doesn't work the fog lights are gone & recently my highlights went too. I took it to the shop they shown me the burnt wires in steeling column & said the heating coil is damaged making the smell & fogs the window from the fumes. Next to go will be the turning signals & wipers if not fixed.
2003 Dodge Neon hit deer at 65 MPH, deer hit front left fender before bouncing off windshield. Glass turned into tiny shards of razor sharp glass (I though safety glass was supposed to turn into little cubes and not razors). Air bags did not deploy. This is more of a question than a complaint.
Transmission slips from 1st to 2nd gear, air condition does not get very cold, 15 miles per gallon, steering wheel starts to vibrate after 45mph, front and back brakes squeak, minor leak under driver side dash board, car starts to vibrate harshly in a drive idle at a red light, car stalls while sitting in park, car stalls while going in reverse on a very slight incline, and when ever I put down my windows, open my sun roof or ever have the air condition on, you can feel and hear the car just lose power when I do one of those things dealership told me to go to a different gas station, to solve my gas problem, come on 15mpg thats a car defect, all the other problems they told me their computer did not detect anything and they could not duplicate it and they couldnt do nothing. Called Chrysler head quarters, I might as well have called my neighbor to get help. …
Consumer called complaining about having problems with severe refraction on uncoming headligths as well as stationary lights. Dealer was contacted and stated that is normal on the vehicle and also if was them not to drive the car at night. Mr
Bought car from father in law, he bought the car new. He had no problems with it.soon after I bought from him in 2000(it was still new!),power windows quit working then started working again.cruise control went out, still dont work. Front end crash 2003 May, 4783.45 in damage, air bag did not deploy at 40mph !!! I had car repaired by non Chrysler garage as per advice of erie insurance co. Erie wont cover because they say its Chrysler's problem, Chrysler says its my problem because work was done at non daimler Chrysler garage and they were rude and hung up on me! Erie told me to have diagnostic check done on it becuz in aug 03 the air bag lite started to come on and horn wont work. I had the check done and they said clockspring needs replaced. Not erie or Chrysler will fix.
As with a multitude of other owners of this vehicle, whenever there is a rain (heavy or light), water leaks into the interior of the car (most likely through the trunk, possibly around the taillight or another hard to diagnose area). The water will fill up the spare tire well and pool there, then move under the back seats and the back seat floors where again the water pools and soaks into the lining/cushions/interior. All of this water causes both structural damage to the body of the car (rust and other issues), produces mildew and mold in the interior of the vehicle (a potential health hazard), and creates highly humid and moist environment inside the car. The leak and water have also affected the reverse/backup lighting (another hazard) and rusted parts of the spare tire well. …
I have a 1999 Dodge Neon. I bought the car in May 2002 at bruce campbell Dodge in redford, michigan. My sunroof went out in September 2002. After arguing with the service manager, they replaced the switch (or the wires). I have the powertrain extended warranty (added care). The next occurence (May, 2004) was when I kept hearing noise in my driver wheel area. I took my care to bruce campbell to check 3 times, they said there was nothing wrong. After the 3rd time, I took it to birmingham Chrysler and asked them to look at it and they told me the cylinder was cracked. I was grateful that my warranty covered that problem (I was without my car for 2 weeks). I still have a tremble in my steering wheel when I reach the speeds of 50 to 70 MPH. I have purchased new wheels, rims, and have had my tires rotated and balanced in May, 2004, but I still have issues with the trembling. …
Since owning this car I have had nothing but problems from 0 to 36,000 miles most were minor and were taken care of by the dealer (althoughi had to tell them what was wrong - they replaced the wrong parts the first time!). Unfortunately, most of the problems occured after 36,000 miles were on the odometer and Chrysler has not been too responsive to my requests for assistnace. I have been told by the dealer that my vehicle is out of warranty and that they would be happy to fix it but who wants to pay $75.00 so that a technician can learn to fix my car. In frustration, I have purchased a shop manual and have started to repair these problems myself. My sun roof needs a 10 cent plastic part which Chrysler does not stock so in order to get it I need a new $500 sunroof mechanism! …
