Tl contact owns a 2005 Dodge Magnum. While driving approximately 30 MPH, the steering wheel loosened and the interior lighting became very dim. On occasion, the contact smelled a burning odor inside the passenger compartment. There were no warning indicators prior to the failures because the warning light indicators have never worked since the vehicle was purchased. The vehicle would start roughly from time to time. When the contact depressed the brake pedal, the contact heard a loud noise underneath the vehicle. In addition, the vehicle shutters when proceeding to turn, the air conditioning unit is not working properly, and the transmission hesitates intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and they stated that the steering failure was related to the front suspension. The mechanic replaced two control arms and tie rods. …
Vehicle Dodge Magnum r/t 5.7l 2005 engine stalls unexpectedly when moving slow speed/low RPM, loses power steering and brakes. Does happen occasionally May go months without an incident. Vehicle start normally right after. Extremely dangerous especially when making left turn over oncoming traffic lanes and crossing lanes. Had two incidents yesterday as described. This issue need to be investigated and recalled for complete repair. Called Chrysler customer service who were unwilling to assist with an issue but admit warranty extension to the fuel tank's multifunction control valve fuel shutoff float in the 19-gallon tanks. I found NHTSA comment in its summary of the closed investigation. …
After filling up the car with gas it stalls and you lose steering and brake control, very dangerous and my wife is now scared to drive the car. Stalling went away after an hour trying to get home. Next morning seemed to run fine. Next fill up did the same thing. This problem is going to cause deaths for sure if it has not already. Contacting the dealer asap to see if they have others with same issue.
There are multiple complaint's online about the shifter problem associated with this vehicle. After contacting Chrysler about this they said the vehicle is not under recall and that the following year Magnum shifting problem was. When I can find over 300 complaints online about my year vehicle experiencing the same problem. It will not shift out of the park into any gears.
Crowhopping is the term used by most websites google crowhopping Magnum rt AWD tells it all on multiple websites with multiple customers..Dodge has seem to term a blind ear to this year model that seems to have the same as another year with the issue. Contacted dealer main office...and they said they never heard of this no surprise.

Turn signal return clock spring broken tends to lock steering when broken are moved by turning the steering wheel #2 problem: transmission locked in the park position can't get to move into drive socar can be driven I understand that this is a common problem; why are these two things not on recall? Both are safety related..
I have severe outside shoulder wear on both front tires of my 2005 Dodge Magnum, VIN [redacted], more on the driver's side than the passenger. Chrysler has replaced the tires once, and aligned four times, but the problem still comes back within 600 miles. Without rotating, my tires would only last about 8000 miles. The car also exhibits enough steering wheel "feedback" on road seems to cause loss of control to anyone "new" to driving this car. The Chrysler district representative has driven this car and claims this is normal. I do not agree! He also claims that severe vibration at various highway speeds and braking conditions is normal. In heavy highway traffic, light braking will make it difficult to stay in my proper lane. Once again, I cannot agree with Chrysler. Thank you, [redacted] ps - I retained two of the original tires that were on the car when delivered. …
Tl contact owns a 2005 Dodge Magnum which was purchased brand new. He stated that during a routine inspection, he was advised that the exterior driver's side tie rod needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to a local repair shop where the necessary repairs were made. On a separate occasion, the vehicle was taken to a local repair shop due to a nail puncturing the rear driver's side tire. The service dealer noticed the tie rods had gone bad and advised having them replaced and contacting daimler Chrysler. There were no recalls for the failure and the manufacturer did not assist. No further repairs were made to the vehicle. The failure and current mileages were under 44,000. Updated 3/10/10 the consumer stated the tie rods did not come with grease fittings, therefore they can not be lubed during scheduled oil changes which causes them to fail. Updated 06/04/10
Bought an 05 Hemi AWD Magnum w/20,000 miles in 07. Warranty expired at 85,000miles. Problems after problems, rack and pinion fixed, EGR valve fixed, torque converter replaced once and still having the same issue. Shudders, vibrations, hard engine noises and stalls, pulls to the right, electrical problems with windows, sunroof, seats, GPS, instrument cluster, power outlets, hood and hatchback just fall down and bump your head. Passenger seat was missing bolts and wasn't fastened to frame. $200 keyless entry key replacement. No where near 24 mpg more like 14 down a flat 55mph highway. Currently 114,000 miles oil always changed around 3,000 miles and had a 3 tranny flushes. Take it to certified Dodge dealerships and they cant figure out what is wrong with any of those problems and try and tell me that's the way it is. Uhhhhhhhuh..... Lemon?
